Hi all,
I am encountering a strange problem which I have run out of ideas on how to fix...
I have a list of CONTACTS which I wish to be able to choose from and send an email to the choosen contacts. Therefore, I have written the following ForAll function:
ForAll(Filter('New test list',Choosen = true), Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(Email, Subject.Text,EmailBody.HTMLText))
Before incorporating this in my main application, which is a large CRM-like application with many different SharePoint lists etc incorporated. I tested it in a simple canvas app. It worked as intended there and send out just 1 email.
However, when I incorporate the EXACT same function with the same names of text boxes I intend to use, it sends out TWO emails to each of the choosen from the list.
Please can somebody help me figure out how ti fix this?
Hi @Anonymous ,
Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think it is not necessary to use ForAll function. I think the Filter function is enough. Please try the following formula in your canvas app:
Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
Concat(
Filter('New test list', Choosen <> false),
Email & ";"
),
Subject.Text,
EmailBody.HTMLText
)
Note: Please remove the ForAll function from your canvas app, and use above formula.
The Filter function in above formula is used to filter these records from your SP List where Choosen column value is true. The Concat function is used to concatenate Email column values from the filtered table result (using Filter function) into a single one string value with a semi-colon as separator. e.g. If there are two contacts match this criteria, the concatenated string value would like below:
User1@email.com;User2@email.com
USE THE CONCATENATED STRING VALUE AS FIRST ARGUMENT OF THE Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2 FUNCTION, then single one email would be sent to these contacts simultaneously.
As I mentioned before, I think this issue maybe related to this ForAll function, so please remove the ForAll function from your canvas app, instead, try above formula I provided, check if the issue is solved.
Best regards,
I tried your above solution and now it works. HOWEVER, there are two problems: I do not want for the receiving end to see that it is a sort of "automized" email. With this solution the person will see all the people this has been send to. The second problem is that I would like to be able to write "Dear " & Title, which is also not possible. Instead I used Concat() like your filter example, but then it just puts all the choosen from the contacts list one after each other:
I tried your formula with the following:
With(
{
vEmail:
Concat(
Filter(
'New test list',
Choosen=true
),
Email & "; "
),
NameOfContact:
Concat(
Filter(
'New test list',
Choosen=true
),
Title & "; "
)
},
Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
vEmail,
Subject.Text,"Dear " & NameOfContact & ", " & Char(13)&
EmailBody.HtmlText
)
)
However, it is not sending any email, I also tried with the Left(), why is this necessary, can you ellaborate?:
With(
{
vEmail:
Concat(
Filter(
'New test list',
Choosen=true
),
Email & "; "
),
NameOfContact:
Concat(
Filter(
'New test list',
Choosen=true
),
Title & "; "
)
},
Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
Left(
vEmail,
Len(vEmail)-2
),
Subject.Text,"Dear " & NameOfContact & ", " & Char(13)&
EmailBody.HtmlText
)
)
It does not send any email 😞
@Anonymous ,
Not much use two of use going on this - I will leave you with @v-xida-msft .
The Left(Len()-2) was just getting rid of the last semi-colon in the string, but as you have now said you want individual mails, ForAll is your only option. I have tested at this end and like @v-xida-msft , it only sends one mail.
I have tried your suggestion, but I am not sure how to get it to work. tried a couple of things as I wrote above.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Currently, if you do not want the end user to see other users within the "To" field of the email, I think the only option is using ForAll function, but you have some unknown issue with ForAll function in your canvas app.
Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned. The ForAll function works well on my side.
As an possible solution, please try the following formula:
Clear(EmailCollection);
ForAll(
Filter(
'New test list',
Choosen <> false
),
Collect(
EmailCollection,
{
ToValue: Email,
TitleValue: Title
}
)
);
ForAll(
EmailCollection,
Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
ToValue,
Subject.Text,
"Dear " & TitleValue & ", " & EmailBody.HTMLText
)
)
Please consider take a try with above formula, then check if the ForAll function could work on your side.
Best regards,
Hi @Anonymous ,
If ForAll keeps sending two mails (and I cannot replicate this here either), here is a possible solution (lengthy as it is).
Collect the items you want with the two fields
ClearCollect(
colMailFields,
ShowColumns(
Filter(
'New test list',
Choosen=true
),
"Email",
"Title"
)
)
Now add some numbers to them
Clear(colMailList);
ForAll(
colMailFields,
Collect(
colMailList,
Last(
FirstN(
AddColumns(
colMailFields,
"MailNo",
CountRows(colMailList) + 1
),
CountRows(colMailList) + 1
)
)
)
)
Now send your mails
If(
CountRows(colMailList)>0,
Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
Lookup(
colMailList,
MailNo=1
).Email,
Subject.Text,
"Dear " &
Lookup(
colMailList,
MailNo=1
).Title &
", " & Char(13)& EmailBody.HtmlText
),
CountRows(colMailList)>1,
Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
Lookup(
colMailList,
MailNo=2
).Email,
Subject.Text,
"Dear " &
Lookup(
colMailList,
MailNo=2
).Title &
", " & Char(13)& EmailBody.HtmlText
),
CountRows(colMailList)>2,
Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2(
Lookup(
colMailList,
MailNo=3
).Email,
Subject.Text,
"Dear " &
Lookup(
colMailList,
MailNo=3
).Title &
", " & Char(13)& EmailBody.HtmlText
)
)
keep repeating the code up to the maximum number of mails you are expecting.
You should not have to do this, but this should work.

Hi @Anonymous ,
Have you taken a try with the solution I and @WarrenBelz provided above?
Please take a try with the solutions we provided above, check if the issue is solved. If you have any issue with the solution we provided above, please feel free to contact us here.
Regards,
Thank you for the very creative way of working around this weird weird issue.
The problem is we have a long list of contacts, it can be as much as 500 in which we sometimes want to send a "marketing mail", I guess the whole application would break or take 15 minutes if I should write the formula for 500 numbers?
I just tried with your solution too of creating a collection for the email and title, but I am still getting the same error.
I even created a seperate application with a link function from one app to the other, but even now the problem of sending TWO emails to the same contact started occuring...........
