OnChange action not working

Hi guys,

I have an app and trying to set a variable based on values in drop downs but I'm having an issue:

So this is the variable action:

Set(MyVariable, If(TextInput14.Text = "YEARS" && "Remove" in Dropdown3.Selected.Value && "NCE" in Dropdown1.Selected.Subscriptions, true, ""))

So if I run it by setting the subscription dropdown and then the remove action - the variable is set but if I first set the remove action and then the dropdown the variable does not get set. On the dropdown I get the error "Incompatible types for comparison. These types can't be compared: Text, Table"

If I change the dropdown to set the variable using OnSelect, it sets the variable each time I click the drop down.

When the variable is set, it displays a popup message:

And I set the Visible property to: MyVariable = true

Any idea how I can get this to work both ways?

Based on the error you described, I think you might need to change your "Select Subscriptions" dropdown.  Does it contain a table?  Try using ShowColumns to only show the Subscription column, that way your "in" function can reference a single column instead of a table. 

P.S. - Just guessing on this one, could be way off 😉

That drop down is showing a collection called Subscriptions and Subscriptions is also one of the columns.

So I changed the formula to:

Set(
    MyVariable,
    If(
        TextInput14.Text = "YEARS" &&
        "Remove" in Dropdown3.Selected.Value &&
        "NCE" in ShowColumns(Dropdown1.Selected, "Subscriptions").Subscriptions,
        true,
        ""
    )
)

Error now states "Invalid argument type (Record). Expecting a Table value instead

Can you change the actual Dropdown1 items to ShowColumns(Subscriptions,"Subscriptions")?  Then reference  the same as you do with "Results"

So currently my Dropdown1 items value is:

Sort(Subscriptions,Subscriptions,SortOrder.Ascending)

So changing it to

ShowColumns(Subscriptions,"Subscriptions")

 breaks my other fields. For example my quantity field was set to

Dropdown1.Selected.Quantity

When I try change that I get prompted to use 

Dropdown1.Selected.Subscriptions

and doesn't allow or recognize "quantity". How would I reformat my fields that rely on the Dropdown1 selection?

Please ignore my previous posts, as I finally was able to test what you've described and it works fine as you had it originally:

Set(MyVariable, If(TextInput14.Text = "YEARS" && "Remove" in Dropdown3.Selected.Value && "NCE" in Dropdown1.Selected.Subscriptions, true, ""))

And if I've understood correctly, you have this formula in the OnChange for both of your dropdowns.  I honestly don't know, hopefully a more experienced forum member can help.  Sorry I failed to assist on this one 😔

I have put a workaround in place that uses a timer and "on timer end" it sets that variable. Seems to work OK for now 🙂
