Passing A parameter to a URL TO Power Apps

Hello,

I need some help with passing my parameter that will allow to switch from the new form screen to the edit screen. If the job number in the form is already in use, I want the data to show in the form with the opportunity to edit but if there is no job number field, I want the new form to come up. My form works fine without the parameters by going into the share point list and playing it with yourself, but I want a user to be able to search by job number and edit it that way! My issue is my parameter runs and when i put in a job number that exist it pulls up, but it submits the form like a new record instead of editing the for (it doesn't do that in the SharePoint list at all).

When I do something like this I usually have one form on one page and just dynamically change it as needed. You seem to have 3 different pages which is also fine! You will want to do a lookup to determine if the item number you are using exists or not first. After that you will either have an item/row or a blank() returned from that LookUp function. If you are returned an item/row then you want to navigate to the view form and pass that item/row to that screen using the 3rd parameter of the navigate function. If you get a balnk back then you know you can move forward to the new screen. Your edit screen is accessable by a button from the view screen usually which allows editing of the item as seen in view mode. Here is psuedo code for what you want:

UpdateContext({item: LookUp(YourSPList, ProjectID = TextInput1.Text)}) -> store blank or the row of your item to edit/view

If(IsBlank()Item, Navigate(NewScreenForm), Navigate(VeiwScreenForm, ScreenTransition.None, {viewItem: item})

Now on your form on the view screen make the item property of the form item

When the user clicks the edit button from the view screen: Navigate(EditScreenForm, None, {editItem: viewItem})

Then also make the form.Item property on the edit screen be editItem

No problem at all! So a few questions first. You have at least 4 screens it seems like correct? 1 for each of 3 view types (view/edit/new) and then I assume one more to view the entreis in a gallery or something along with searching for a number/name etc. Is that correct? Once we get how you have it set up then we will get your issue sorted out 🙂
