Hi All,
Hopefully, you can help me. I'm currently creating a timesheet app for users where they can create timesheets and I'm learning Power Apps as I go.
I'm trying to use the Outlook Calendar template screen so users can view their calendar and then they can use a button to add the Outlook appointment information into their timesheet.
With the Outlook Calendar template screen, there is a Calendar events gallery that lists all the Outlook appointments for the day. I'm then trying to get some of the Outlook appointment information (time and title) to be inputted into another gallery which is the timesheets gallery. I'm using a button to add this.
I'm using an update context function on the button, this seems to work for text labels and text inputs outside of the timesheets gallery (gal_TimeCard_2) but it doesn't work within the actual timesheets gallery, it just comes up blank. I've tried both global and var. The text input I've used in the screenshot is a random one to test but it would go where the Hours column is in the timesheet gallery.
I feel I'm obviously missing something in that the information has to be passed from one gallery into another but I don't know how to code/write this.
Please note with the appointment time from the outlook gallery is in minutes e.g. 30mins but I would like this to be 1.5 (written as a decimal) which is why I have text boxes as decimals.

Hi @caoimhelambert,
ClearCollect or Collect should be used to create a collection that can be utilized to display information inside a gallery. Using a variable to populate the gallery is not feasible. You can refer to the below link for more information about collections.
If you found my answer helpful, please consider giving it a thumbs-up or a like. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

As @Talha_Dar mentioned, I think the gallery need to get data from a specific table or collection, so you need to store the variable somewhere. I also noticed in the OnSelect-formulas for the "Add"-buttons that you didn't specify which properties you were storing in the variables. Try adding ".text" behind the input, like this:@
UpdateContext ({globalNoHours: lbl_TimeDecimal.Text})
Let me know if this helps 🙂
Yes adding the ".Text" worked! Ahhh something so simple! Thank you!
Even though it works, do you think it would be best to do what @Talha_Dar mentioned and store the variables as a collection?
It depends. If you don't store the variables in a collection they will change when you for example click the second "Add"-button since you just have one variable. This can occur when the user are trying to add to lines of time-data at the same time. If that's not the case, you don't have to store them in a collection.
By the way, if I answered your question, I would be happy if you marked it as solved and gave me thumbs up 🙂
Thank you @akselmb and @Talha_Dar ! I was already using a collection for the timesheet gallery to save it so on the Add button I used the Patch function to Patch the Outlook appointment information into the timesheet collection!
