Patch (Checkbox in gallery also inside a container)

Patch does not seem to be working for me.

I have a checkbox inside a gallery that is inside a container.

Default = false

OnCheck = Patch(ThisItem.Selected,{Received:"true"}); Refresh('Student Thank You Cards for Donors')

OnUnCheck = Patch(ThisItem,{Received:"false"}); Refresh('Student Thank You Cards for Donors')

OnSelect = 

Text = 

Reset =

When I check a box inside the gallery, It put a check mark in and then disappears.  It also does not update the sharepoint list.

The column name for this field is "Received" is a choice field "true or false"

Sharepoint data source: Student Thank You Cards for Donors

Screen is CheckOut_2

Gallery is Gal_StudentDonorFiltered_CO2

Container is ContainerCheckOut

After the data has been updated to the sharepoint list.

I plan on doing a Navigation command to go previous screen. (I know how to do this - very basic), to do another filter for the next records.

The issue is probably that yout column is a choice type, but you are treating it as a text type. Try the below instead:

Default = ThisItem.Received.Value = "true"

OnCheck = Patch(ThisItem,{Received: {Value: "true"}}); Refresh('Student Thank You Cards for Donors')

OnUnCheck = Patch(ThisItem,{Received: {Value: "false"}}); Refresh('Student Thank You Cards for Donors')

Hi @Jeffrey_H , 

Has multiselect been enabled in the Received column in the datasource? If so, please disable it and the refresh the datasource in Power Apps studio. The error should then disappear.

The check box will still not stay checked and it does not update the sharepoint list.

I did look at the column format (allow multiple selections) is set to No

Can you please share the Items property of the gallery? Unless there's anything obvious in there, I can't say why ThisItem.Received.Value would return a table.

Since this wasn't working I change the column type back to a single line text field in the Sharepoint list.

Would I still use the suggestions you stated above ?

In case Retrieved is a text type column, use:

Default = ThisItem.Received = "true"

OnCheck = Patch(ThisItem,{Received: "true"}); Refresh('Student Thank You Cards for Donors')

OnUnCheck = Patch(ThisItem,{Received: {"false"}); Refresh('Student Thank You Cards for Donors')

In case you were to still run into issues, please share the Items property of the gallery.

This gallery is inside a container, if that makes a difference.  I can move the gallery outside of the container, since it doesn't seem to be adding anything to reach the goal.  Your thoughts ?

I only just notice the data source is missing in your Patch function. Also there's no need to add a Refresh function, since that is already included when performing the Patch function, making it redundant. 

Please try:

Default = ThisItem.Received.Value = "true"

OnCheck = Patch('Student Thank You Cards for Donors', ThisItem,{Received: "true"});

OnUnCheck = Patch('Student Thank You Cards for Donors', ThisItem,{Received: "false"});
