Patch Function - Update a record

Hello PowerUsers,

I have a problem with my app, can anyone help me on the Patch Function that updates the record instead of creating a new in my sharepoint list?

I have an app that whenever the users inputs their contact number and personal email address, the records will be updated in my sharepoint list instead of creating a new one.

I have tried so many patch functions with no errors but it keeps on creating a new record which should just be updated.

Here is my code that I'm using right now:

Patch(
'EXIT TRACKER -',
varFormData,
Form2.Updates,
Form1.Updates
);

Hi @JMBernardo, 

Here is a standard Patch function, a base record is required if you want to update an existing record. 

Patch( DataSource, BaseRecord, ChangeRecord1 [, ChangeRecord2, … ])

What does varFormData is used for? Does it store the record? If yes, then this should be your code:

Patch(
'EXIT TRACKER -',
LookUp('EXIT TRACKER -', ID = varFormData.ID),
Form2.Updates,
Form1.Updates
);

Hello!

I tried, it doesn't creating a new record which is my goal, but it doesn't update the record in my sharepoint list. The contact number and personal number is still blank whenever I try to submit.

@JMBernardo You need to share more info regarding the form2 and form1 that you have used. Also share info regarding contact number and personal number update properties of these 2 data card.

Here's the overview of the app.

The Form 1 and Form 2 are both editable forms which comes from 2 different screens. Form 2 is on Screen 1 and Form 1 is on Screen 2.

The default property of both Forms are set to varFormData

The Contact Number and Personal Email Address are both in Text Value, which the users will input.

The goal of the app is to input their Personal details such as Contact and Email, when they click the "Next" button, the data that was provided by the users will update the sharepoint list connector before submitting the necessary docs, the "Next" button will serve as their "Draft" button.

Once they are on screen 2 and ready to submit the documents, then they can just click "Submit" (re-update the sharepoint list based on the submitted files)
