Patching Incremental Variable

Hello,

I have a variable that keeps increasing when the user creates a new series and I also have a dropdown selections for categories.

What I want to do is, for each category selected the cycle needs to only increment for that category and if blank then it should that from 0. The intended results should be a table like the one below.

I want to patch something like this above

What I have tried ;

1. declared a variable 'OnStart' = 

 to get the last series created..

2.  created another based on the statues of myty

3. Then a patch function.....

PROBLEM

This works fine, problems is that is keeps incrementing even the user changes the category from the filter.

If it's based on series then you need to enter the series name as filter.

Set(LastSeries,Last(Filter(Database,Mine = "X")).Series );

Above code will store 423 in case of X. Then on the remaining operations you can use this as reference. But if it's needed many times my suggestion is. Use this formula in patch, whenever you are storing new entry:

Value(Last(Filter(Database,Mine = "CategoryName")).Series) + 1

This will always increment the series for particular category

How do i implement Value(Last(Filter(Database,Mine = "CategoryName")).Series) + 1 with a dropdown, I have tried to use a an If function. and it seems like it keeps adding for all. I have a dropdown selection for category.
