Hi,
I am trying to patch multiple galleries to a SharePoint list using one button.
I have 4 Galleries on the page called:
- Gallery - Main
- Gallery - Describe the Problem
- Gallery - 5Y
- Gallery - Actions
The data inputted into these galleries will update a SharePoint list data when patched.
I managed to Patch data from one gallery (Gallery-Main) to SharePoint, however i don't know how to patch the other 3 galleries within that one button on OnSelect.
Thanks in advance.
@Anonymous ,
Yes, but where is the control situated that is running this (inside one of the galleries or not) - also where are the controls you are patching from situated ?
The control that is running the patch (the Update button) is outside the 4 galleries. The intention is for this one button to patch all 4 galleries' data to the SharePoint List.
When you said to create a new screen to check if my 'Gallery - Describe the problem' data would update to the SharePoint list, the button to patch was also outside of the gallery.
All 4 galleries have the code 'Filter('PowerApps MIR List','IMI/HOP Number'=VAR_MIR_Go)' in their Items area, so that when I click a button on a previous screen, the galleries only show the SharePoint list data based on the IMI/HOP Number selected on the previous screen.
Thanks for your support.
Hi @Anonymous ,
That is one part of the question - where are the controls you are patching the values from situated ?
Hi @WarrenBelz
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking for here. I have attached some screenshots.
For each of the 4 galleries data inputs where I will be inputting data to be patched to the SharePoint list. In their respective textinputs they have ThisItem'and then the item I want to update in the SharePoint list'. So for example for 'Gallery - describe the problem', my two textinputs in that gallery are
TextInput_What_Happened.
TextInput_How_did_you_resolve_this.
This is my patch from the button that doesnt work for the second gallery again:
Patch(
'PowerApps MIR List',
{ID: 'Gallery - Main'.Selected.ID},
{
'Quality Notification Number': Label_Quality_Notification_Number_2.Text,
'IMI/HOP Number': Label_IMIHOP_Number_3.Text,
'MIR Complete?': Dropdown_MIR_Complete_2.Selected.'MIR Complete?',
'Hold Description': TextInput_Hold_Description_4.Text,
'Hold Scope Start': TextInput_Hold_Scope_Start_3.Text,
'Hold Scope End': TextInput_Hold_Scope_End_3.Text,
'No. Pallets on Hold': TextInput_No_Pallets_on_Hold_2.Text,
'No. Cases on Hold': TextInput_No_Cases_on_Hold_2.Text,
'Vol. on Hold': TextInput_Vol_on_Hold_2.Text,
'Action Taken': TextInput_Action_Taken_2.Text,
'No. Pallets Released': TextInput_No_Pallets_Released_2.Text,
'No. Pallets Scrapped': TextInput_No_Pallets_Scrapped_2.Text,
'No. Pallets Reworked':TextInput_No_Pallets_Reworked_2.Text,
'Cost of Scrapped': TextInput_Cost_of_Scrapped_2.Text,
'Hours Reworked': TextInput_Hours_Reworked_2.Text,
'Cost of Reworked':TextInput_Cost_of_Reworked_2.Text,
'Total Hold Cost': TextInput_Total_Hold_Cost_2.Text,
'Date Completed': DatePicker_Date_Completed_2.SelectedDate,
'No. Days on Hold': TextInput_No_Days_on_Hold_2.Text
}
);
Patch(
'PowerApps MIR List',
{ID: 'Gallery - Describe the problem'.Selected.ID},
{
'What happened?': TextInput_What_Happened.Text,
'How did you resolve this?': TextInput_How_did_you_resolve_this.Text
}
);

@Anonymous ,
OK - I will try asking the question another way - where are the Text Boxes and the Date Pickers that you are sourcing your data from situated - in the respective galleries or outside them ? I am suspecting inside and I believe that is your issue if you trying to patch both galleries from a control outside the gallery. Both patches work on their own (so it is difficult to fix your code), so I suspect (and I never seen anyone doing what you doing are before) that switching gallery reference from outside them is causing the error. It is always best to patch Gallery content from inside the gallery - that way the control references are very specific to the relevant record.

Hi @WarrenBelz
Yes you are right the source of the data (textinputs and datepickers, etc) are within the 4 galleries. And the button to patch the multiple galleries is outside of the 4 galleries (just at the top of the screen).
Does this mean it is not possible to do what I want by patching the multiple galleries data from one button that is not within the galleries?
So I will need to have 4 different update buttons for each of the galleries to patch the data to the SharePoint list? Which isn't ideal for users as they will have to click 4 update buttons, but I guess if this is the only way then it will have to be this?
Hi @Anonymous ,
As I noted, I have never attempted what you are doing and as the Patches work individually, there is nothing wrong with the code (nor can I see anything wrong with it), so yes unfortunately that would seem to be the case.

Hi,
Thanks for all of your help. I will just have 4 gallery buttons for now, unless it is possible in the future to patch multiple galleries by one button.
