Populate dropdown based on another dropdown value (with Sharepoint list)

I am trying to populate an employee's VP based on their selected team. 

Essentially, when an employee selects their team, the VP dropdown will automatically populate with the VP's name. The VP name is stored in a list with the VP's name, team, and email. 

Note: the Team dropdown is "choice" and the VP dropdown is a people selection. 

I've tried the following in the VP dropdown items: 

LookUp('Team VPs', Team = Team_datacard.SelectedItems,'VP Name'.DisplayName)

Distinct(Filter('Team VPs', Team = Team_datacard.Selected.Value), 'VP Name')

Where, 

Team VPs= sharepoint list with VP name, team, and email 

Team_datacard = Team dropdown

VP Name= Name of VP

The error I am getting says: Incompatible types for comparison. These types can't be compared. Error, Table.

Any help?

When each team only has one VP and the team dropdown only allows 1 selection, we can use the LookUp function in the DefaultSelectedItems of the VP dropdown:

LookUp(
    'Team VPs', 
    //Find the record that matches the selected team
    Team.Value = Team_datacard.Selected.Value
).'VP Name'

When I run it, the system doesn't allow the .Value after Team (Invalid use of ".")

When I tried to leave it off, the error is "expected table value, the rule produces text"

Not sure why it's not recognizing the Team field so I can pull in value.

Thank you for the clarification. The actual Items property of your dropdown should not change, this should be the original value. Normally this is something similar to Choices([@ListNameOfForm].'VP Name'). You can easily get the original Items value by deleting the data card and adding it again via the 'Edit Fields' function of the form.

The DefaultSelectedItems property of the dropdown should be changed and contain the code previously written. This will auto-select the correct VP of that list. 

Regarding the error: can you confirm whether the Team column is a single-select choice field (not a LookUp or text field) within the Team VPs SharePoint list?

I reverted the Items back to the default and updated the DefaultSelectedItems with your code but I'm still getting the same error.

Regarding your question: The Team column is a single select choice dropdown. However, the Team column in the VP Sharepoint list is a text field. See screenshots below for reference. Any help is greatly appreciated.
