Hello everyone,
I am able to build an app using powerbiintegration.data, but let's say I publish and close the session. Then I come back to work on it some more. Every session after the initial setup shows no data in any of the tables or fields that leverage powerbiintegration.data.
I have to constantly publish it, then go into Power BI and refresh to see how my changes affect the app.
Am I missing something? Why won't PowerApps pull the PowerBI data in every time I go to edit the app in the editor?
Solved! Go to Solution.
That did it! But, the ... label only says 'Edit'. A minor issue now that I know.
Thank you!
Hello,
I am having the same problem. To summarize, here are the steps I follow to reproduce the problem:
- From web power-bi I add the powerapps visual and I select all the measures and parameters to pass to the app
- From the visual, I select the powerapps application that I have already prepared. PowerApps studio opens and displays properly all the powerbiintegration.Data
- I save the powerapps, and the power-bi report.
X executing the powerapp from iOS, Windows or web PowerApps studio shows the new powerapp (I changed the background color, so I know it is the one), but no data is shown from powerbiintegration.
- if I open web-powerbi I see the report with the PowerApps visual working fine.
- if I click on edit from the PowerApps visual, PowerApps studio opens and it properly display the data from the powerbi integration.
X but when I save and try to execute again the powerapps from any other enviroronment (iOS, Windows, Web), the powerapps continues to show no data from powerbiiintegration.
X when I see connectionsfrom PowerApps Studio, from "see all versions" and then "connections", the page shows that there aren't connection for the app.
Anyone can point me to what I am missing in order to have a connected PowerApps to PowerBI data?
Thank you in advance.
/Flavio
Hi, I have a power bi report with a table and two power app visuals. when published to the service, was all fine, and all well.
HOWEVER, today the powerapps visual in pbi service have no data shown.
when i click the Edit button nothing happens.
I have re published the report to the pbi service but nothing happens, the table shows but not the powerapps visuals.
Any help much welcome.
Best wishes
Tony
I'm a little late to the game, but hopefully this helps anyone still having the same problem:
The Power Apps tile in Power BI has to be completely unfiltered in order for the data to populate while editing in the Power Apps Studio.
I was still having issues even after following the steps above until I figured out that if I had filters in the filters pane or a slicer acting on the Power Apps tile, editing the app would show no data. After clearing those out and then going to edit, everything shows up as it should.
Why is it that when I first create the Power App visual inside a report page using Power BI Desktop, that the resulting Power App has data. But subsequent attempts to get into Edit that Power App (from within Power BI Desktop) result in the PowerBIIntegration.Data being blank?
Seems I have to PUBLISH the report to Power BI Service, then Edit the Report, then Edit the visual before it will launch Power App design studio such that PowerBIIntegration.Data has data.
Is this a bug? And if so, who do I report it to? The Power App team, or the Power BI team?
I managed to get it working using the abovemention method of publishing and then editing in the power BI service.. Still haven't figured out to get back to this state using the power BI dekstop which is my preffered method of editing the report... This has to be a bug, it is very hard to work with..
Make sure to go into the Power BI Service (this does not work in Power BI Desktop), first hit edit on the Power BI Report and then hit edit on the three ... at the right top of the Power Apps visual
I am having the same issue: no data when launch editor from PBI Desktop.
Solution: as others mentioned, publish report > edit online version of PBI Power App visual > Power App editor window will retrieve data
I do think this is a bug at least for PBI Desktop
