PowerApps searching for SharePoint list data

Hi,

Bit of a strange request as not sure if its possible.

Basically I am creating an app in which the user must perform hourly tests. However, at some point, they must also perform a one off test called HypoTest.

Each hourly test is submitted and then the screen refreshed for the next hourly check. However, this means I cannot put the data of the HypoTest onto each page (which I need to do so that the user knows if they have done it or not).

So I was wondering if PowerApps is able to search the data for whether the HypoTest has been completed over the last 12 hours by a certain User? So that in the screen it will show the HypoTest has been submitted.

I know I could get the user to create a record and then use galleries to make sure the data passes across of the HypoTest, but I don't want to use galleries because each hourly test needs to be a seperate entry into the SharePoint list.

Thanks in advance for any help or just let me know if its possible/not possible.

Hi @Anonymous ,

This is entirely possible. You just need to include a condition on things like a Visible or DisplayMode properties to show/hide/disable parts of the app is the condition is (not) met.

An example of what the condition may look like:

IsBlank(
   LookUp(
      HypoTestDataSource,
      SubjectUser.Email = User().Email,
      Created > DateAdd( Now(), -12, TimeUnit.Hours)
   )
)

The above will return true if no item is found in the HypoTestDataSource (where the results are stored) when looking for the current user details in the SubjectUser column and in the Created column for items that are older than 12 hours.

Hi @BCBuizer , thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

That's great to hear its possible.

So that HypotestDataSource is just my entire SharePoint List source of all my data?

And, say for example instead of looking at whether a certain user has submitted the HypoTest and the last 12 hours, the user has to select the Shift they work on using a dropdown (with options Red, Green, Blue, Yellow). So could i search the data source to see if the HypoTest was completed on that certain Shift and in the last 12 hours.

What would this look like in terms of code?

Thanks for your help so far.

HI @Anonymous ,

I assumed you save the results of the Hypo tests in a separate datasource, but if the results of all tests are stored in the same list, additional filter conditions may be needed. To determine that, please share how your datasource(s) are structured.

The same goes for introducing additional criteria based on shifts etc.

Hi @BCBuizer ,

Yes all the data is saved into one SharePoint List, as seen below:

So each time the hourly tests are completed, a new line/record will be created. But obviously I have that Hypotest that only needs to be done once every day, not every hour.

Does this make sense?

Thank you
