Powerapps Form even after using the Lookup it returns the first ID instead of current record

Hello Everyone,

I have a form which is in edit and new mode based on a button and gallery . I have set the default property of the form based on a variable .

If (varJournal=true, form Mode.new ,FormMode.Edit)

 and in the items property  I have used  Lookup(Request,Request No=Related request Gallery.Selected.RequestNo)

Still once I click on the Submit form it will give me the first record . Sometimes it works perfectly sometimes it gives me the first record.

Can someone help us on this

Hi @Anonymous

You need to refresh the data source before the save/patch.

Refresh(SPList);
SubmitForm() or Patch(

Hi @Anonymous

This is expected Behaviour. Once you save, Gallery refreshes and shows a different record since we are referencing the gallery. To resolve this issue, we need to store the selected record in a variable and referencing the variable in the form.

Set OnSelect property of the Gallery to

Set(SelectedRecordId, 'Related request Gallery'.Selected.RequestNo);Navigate(DetailScreen1, ScreenTransition.None)

Set the Item property of the form to

LookUp(Request,'Request No'=SelectedRecordId)

When selecting New Record Set

Set(SelectedRecordId, Blank());

This trick worked well for new form however when I submit the form I want the form to be in Edit Mode . So on the onSuccess property of the form I had written FormMode.Edit but then the form shows as No Item to display .

In the Items property I had written

Lookup(Request,RequestNo=varselected)

where varselcted is blank on new form and on the gallery it is gallery.selected.RequestNo

Any suggestions please ?

Hi @Anonymous

I see. Set the OnSuccess Property of Form to

Set(SelectedRecordId, Self.LastSubmit.RequestNo);

In this case, SelectedRecordId has an updated Request Id.

Thank you for the suggestion actually once I submit the form I am patching the Request Number based on LastSubmit .

So when I set the variable OnSuccess property it will be only REQ because of which its displaying No item to display . Any suggestion please

Hi @Anonymous

The better approach (right thing) to do is to move your Patch command to OnSuccess Property of the Form. So you have guaranteed operation when the form is submitted.

Set the below command(s) on OnSuccess Property of the form.

Set(SelectedRecordId, "REQ" & Self.LastSubmit.ID & "000");
Patch('xx Request', Self.LastSubmit,{Status : {Value:"Draft"}, 'Request No' : SelectedRecordId,.....});
Set(varForm, true);

Hi @Anonymous

I was using UpdateContext and removed it now. Already updated the above post.

This solved my issue but then I have two buttons one for saving the item as draft and one for pending when I write Patch function on the Pending button it throws an error Conflict arrises ETAG mismatch error

Hi @Anonymous

You need to refresh the data source before the save/patch.

Refresh(SPList);
SubmitForm() or Patch(
