I am setting up a Sharepoint calendar view where users select (+New) in a day within the calendar to open a PowerApps created form, and within the form they select the start date and time (AM/PM, hour and minute - in 15 minute increments), and the finish date and time with the same values.
This is the formula I used:
Add another drop down at the right with Items
["AM", "PM"]
and the Default
If(Hour(Parent.Default) < 12, "AM", "PM")
The Items of the Hour control
["12","01","02","03","04","05","06","07","08","09","10","11"]
and the Default
Text(If(Mod(Hour(Parent.Default), 12) = 0, 12, Mod(Hour(Parent.Default), 12)),"00")
Now the Update of the Data Card
DateControlName.SelectedDate + Time( If( AmPmControlName.Selected.Value = "PM", 12, 0 ) + Mod( Value( HourControlName.Selected.Value ), 12 ), Value( MinuteControlName.Selected.Value ), 0 )
NOTE - you will need to replace the control names above with yours.
Regardless of what date or time is selected, it populates the calendar with the date and time the form was submitted.
The form entry shown on March 19 was for several days the following week, but it populates the calendar only on the date and time the form was submitted.
Initially, I tried obtaining this information by selecting Date and Time in a column, but time fields do not appear.
If there is a way to get the hour and minute fields to appear and populate the calendar properly using Date and Time in a data card from lists, or using a formula, I am happy to achieve the end goal either way, or another method all together. If it would be better achieved using the standard Sharepoint form rather than PowerApps, I can do that too. PowerApps matches my other forms, which is why that is my preference.
The form also captures the equipment being requested, a cost center and project details and other information. I would like requesters to be able to hover over an entry on the calendar and see the name of the equipment and which days equipment has been reserved so they can select other dates. Also, having controls that prevent equipment from being double booked (same time range on the same day) would be a further refinement.
I am happy to share any configurations and settings.
Thank you
Hi @PowerAppsMerf2
That looks a little over complicated to me or maybe I'm misinterpreting you.
For hours I used:
ForAll(
Sequence(12),
Text(Value,"00")
)
And minutes:
ForAll(
Sequence(4,0,15),
Text(Value,"00")
)
Could you drop two labels into the same screen as your date/time picker and configure as follows:
Label1:
DateTimeValue(
Concatenate(
DatePicker3.SelectedDate,
", ",
HourPicker.Selected.Value,
":",
MinutePicker.Selected.Value,
":00 ",
AMPMPicker.Selected.Value
)
)
Label2:
Text(
DateTimeValue(
Concatenate(
DatePicker3.SelectedDate,
", ",
HourPicker.Selected.Value,
":",
MinutePicker.Selected.Value,
":00 ",
AMPMPicker.Selected.Value
)
),
"dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss am/pm"
)
You can use either of these to patch the SP column.
And lastly, change the Display format of your SP column to standard instead of friendly
Thank you @DJ_Jamba,
I am working through your solution, but have a few questions.
1. I am getting an error with the first formula for Hours
I have hour set up as:
2. Labels - I assume the two labels represent a start date and and end date selection within the same data card?
3. Error with first text label control. (I assume this may resolve once the hour value formula is resolved).
The ForAll formulas I supplied go into the items property of your hours and minutes dropdown controls. Did you do that?
im not at a pc right now so can’t provide screenshots
No, I was in Default.
In items I receive the same error:
I think you might be using modern controls?
Remember that modern control are in preview and there's only a few that can be used in a prod environment.
The ones in the screenshot are safe to use
Could you try this as a test in a new blank screen like the attached gif but using classic controls?
Hi @DJ_Jamba ,
I am sorry for the delay. I have been trying to enable classic controls. I do not see the option to switch in PowerApps. However, in your gif, you do not show a classic controls tab either. How are you enabling it?
Searching for 'classic controls in PowerApps', this is what I believe I should be seeing:
I believe modern controls is most likely the issue, I just need to learn how to switch to classic.
You can’t switch the modern controls you’ve used to classic controls.
You have to recreate each control using a classic control and then delete the modern one. As long as classic is selected in the Insert tab you’re good to go.
I am sorry, I am unable to find classic controls in PowerApps. I created a new blank screen and added controls to it, but there is no selection available (classic or modern), so I assume it is still using modern controls. This is the part I am stuck on. I have asked others in my organization as well, and am having a hard time finding an answer.
These are my PowerApps settings (from lower left gear icon). This appears to only control color templates.
And below are my control options:
Thank you for your help.
That looks like classic.
Can you add a new blank screen and add a drop down control to it and in the Items property of the control add this code:
ForAll( Sequence(12), Text(Value,"00") )
