Hi All. I have seen a similar question here which has not been adequately answered.
I have a repeating table in a gallery (using Shane Young's brilliant Youtube videos). In the row I have several fields; some text boxes and others drop downs. After filling the first row and creating the next row, I noticed that the selected drop down values go back to the first value of the Items. When looking at the collection the values are correct. Some users might think that their entry hasn't been saved. I have other repeating tables without drop downs and they work perfectly. Anybody have any suggestions?
First row entry.......
Second Row entry.......

A screenshot of a gallery with two dropdowns.
I hope this helps.
The button loads the collection.
ClearCollect(colFruitsVegetables,{Fruits:"",Vegetables:"",ShowSaveButtonFruitsVegetables:true})
The default value of the Fruits dropdown.
ThisItem.Fruits
The On Select value of the Save button. Note that the dropdowns are SelectedText.Value
Patch(colFruitsVegetables,ThisItem,{Fruits:DpdnFruit.SelectedText.Value,Vegetables:DpdnVegetables.SelectedText.Value,ShowSaveButtonFruitsVegetables:false});If(EditPressed1,false,Collect(colFruitsVegetables,{Fruits:"",Vegetables:"",ShowSaveButtonFruitsVegetables:true}))
The collection
I managed to fix this issue by setting my "default" property of the dropdown to ThisItem."Collection Column Name"
I am struggling with a variation on this issue. I have 2 people picker/comboboxes inside a gallery with repeating table functionality.
The first combobox is an Employee name entered by the user. The DefaultSelectedItems property is set to the Value of the collection column: {Value: ThisItem.cEmployee} and everything here is fine.
The problem is that I'm trying to make the second combobox populate with the Employee's Manager. So to achieve this I have set the DefaultSelectedItems property to:
{'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Office365Users.ManagerV2(ComboBoxEmployee.Selected.Mail).mail,
Department:"",
DisplayName:Office365Users.ManagerV2(ComboBoxEmployee.Selected.Mail).displayName,
Email:Office365Users.ManagerV2(ComboBoxEmployee.Selected.Mail).mail,
JobTitle:"",
Picture:""
}
This also works fine and pulls in the Employee's Manager (although it does throw that annoying error when the Employee field is blank and says it has an invalid ID parameter, etc... does anyone have a fix for that?)
Because the DefaultSelectedItems is occupied already, I can't set it to the Value of the collection column and it's getting wiped out when the table repeats. How can I capture the selected Manager info (name and/or email) before it gets wiped? OR how can I set the DefaultSelectedItems correctly? Any advice is appreciated.
***********************
EDIT: I just fixed the invalid parameter issue by adding an If statement to see if the Employee field above is blank:
If(!IsBlank(ComboBoxEmployee.Selected.Mail), {'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Office365Users.ManagerV2(ComboBoxEmployee.Selected.Mail).mail,
Department:"",
DisplayName:Office365Users.ManagerV2(ComboBoxEmployee.Selected.Mail).displayName,
Email:Office365Users.ManagerV2(ComboBoxEmployee.Selected.Mail).mail,
JobTitle:"",
Picture:""
})
Hi. I haven't had to do this before but the only thing I can think of is to use a text box to display the manager when that repeating table is saved and displays the next new table.
Use the 2nd combo box to get the manager.
Then use a hidden text box to hold the manager name chosen in the combo box. Use this as the default value.
Using DisplayMode hide the text box when the save icon is visible.
When the Edit icon is visible unhide it.
@AshleyFoozi1 Thanks, this is a great idea. It's sort of working for me. I added a TextInput control named textMgrName and the default value to be ComboBoxMgr.Selected.DisplayName. Then I added a second TextInput control and made the default value ThisItem.cManagerName.
Then on the Save button, when the item is collected, I patch the column to the FIRST text box value:
cManagerName: textMgrName.Text
This is working to capture the manager's name, but for reasons unknown, I can't get the manager's Mail or UserPrincipalName property. ONLY the DisplayName will come through. This is unfortunate b/c if I could get the email address, I could populate an actual Person column in SharePoint and automate an email to the manager.
It's really confusing because Powerapps is perfectly happy with the function: ComboBoxMgr.Selected.Mail and yet no value appears or is saved. I've tried changing the DisplayField on the ComboBoxMgr to show the Mail property but that also comes in blank. The only property I can get is DisplayName!
I think I'll have to get the Manager's email through Power Automate. Was hoping to grab it in the app but it just isn't working.
Greetings,
I am ussing shane's method for the repeating table, I am able to get multiple rows when inputting data, but when I submit it is only saving the information for the first row in my sharepoint list. What might I be doing wrong? help
also, another thing when I am viewing the data in another gallery like shanes I get a delegation error and i am using the exact code as shane. Not sure what might be happening Filter(compdetails,MasterID = Master.Selected.ID)
Hi
Are you saving each line in the gallery to the collection?
Check the corresponding collection to see if the saved entries from the gallery are there.
Then on a button you need to submit the collection to the SharePoint list.
Button Code:
ForAll(
COLLECTION NAME,If(!IsBlank(ANY SHAREPOINT COLUMN NAME),
Patch('YOUR SHAREPOINT LIST NAME',
Defaults('YOUR SHAREPOINT LIST NAME'),{
SharePoint Column Name 1:Collection Column Name 1,
SharePoint Column Name 2:Collection Column Name 2
}
)
)
);
