Results of Multiple Selection Lookup in ViewMode: clickable and row-wise

Greetings,

In "previous life" I have been using Nintex Forms, where a lookup field could be configured to select multiple results as follows:

As you can see, the items (lookup from a different list) are each in separate rows, which highly improves readability in comparison with power apps combobox, since these items contain a lengthy title.

When in View mode, the field would only show the results, again in each row as well as by default in form of a link to corresponding item without any further coding.

In power apps I would like to create a similar experience, however all by default dropdowns/combobox only show everything in one row and as text. My attempts to adjust this failed so far. I have tried to somehow use gallery or table in the edit screen, but without any success so far.

Any idea, how this could be accomplished?

Well, it make sense, if you want to edit the gallery items, but it does not make sense, if you want to just click on the item to get it's properties. I want my users to open a form in view mode, e. g. when the item is locked for editing and be able to click on each gallery item, resulting in browser window with the URL of that item to open.

This works only in edit mode though. And it would be great to find some solution for this to work in View Mode as well.

I am aware some community users have suggested manually changing the DisplayMode property of each DataCard by replacing:

Parent.DisplayMode

With:

DisplayMode.Edit

Personally however this has never worked for me with both SharePoint and Dataverse.

My method is to go the long way. Add a button control into your app and on the OnSelect property, enter:

UpdateContext({ctx_ViewMode: true})

For each DataCard (not DataCardValue) you want to only appear in ViewMode, select DisplayMode property and enter: 

If(
    ctx_ViewMode,
    DisplayMode.View,
    DisplayMode.Edit
)

Note if you have a NewForm and/or EditForm function running anywhere, set this Context Variable to false. For example:

NewForm(Form1);
UpdateContext({ctx_ViewMode: false})

Set(
    gbl_record,
    ThisItem
);
EditForm(Form1);
UpdateContext({ctx_ViewMode: false})

Unfortunately this does not work either. Nothing happen with the DisplayMode of the Datacard, when I click the button. I also just tried to put something like Datacard.DisplayMode = DisplayMode.Edit into the OnSelect. This did not work either.

Hello@Amik. I found a workaround to my issue: I put my form now for both "Edit Item" and "View Item" action of sharepoint into Edit mode and pass a variable to determine the action. Depending on the variable I put all "normal" datacard at "View Item" action manually to Displaymode.View, while the Datacard with the Gallery in question stays in Displaymode.Edit, thus being clickable in this "simulated" View Mode
