Hi all,
I'm running into a problem with the Rich Text Editor element in my PowerApp resizing itself in the Published version of my app.
When editing my app, I set the size of the Rich Text Editor and everything is fine. Even when I preview the app, the dimensions of the Rich Text Editor element remain exactly as I've set them. See the first image below.
Once I save the app, publish and run it - the Rich Text Editor resizes itself to a default size and I cannot figure out how to set these dimensions myself. I'm using a modified version of the Meeting Capture template in PowerApps.
Any ideas on what is causing this and possible solutions?

HI @thguyton ,
Please consider take a try to turn off/disable the "Improved app rendering (final validation)" option within Advanced settings of App settings of your app, re-publish your app, then check if the issue is solved.
Also please take a try to unlock "aspect ratio" option and "Scale to fit" option as below:
then click "Apply" button, then re-publish your app, check if the issue is solved.
Best regards,
You mention setting the size...how are you doing that? Just with resizing it and/or setting width and height with numbers?
I don't know that template well enough to spout out the names of controls on it, but here is what I see that you can use.
There is a "gray" box underneath that editor control. Find out what its name is.
Then in the rich text editor control, set the Width property to:
whatEverThatUnderBoxControlNameIs.Width
Then in the Height property of the editor, set it to:
whatEverThatUnderBoxControlNameIs.Height - theHeightOfThatNotesHeader
This way the control will always size itself based on the other control.
See if that helps move you in the right direction.
Hi RandyHayes,
I've tried setting the width both ways and I was hoping the method you gave me would help; however, the element continues to resize itself when running the published app. I'm not sure why it would work fine in preview but not when it's published.
Originally, the notes input was a basic text field. I changed it to Rich Text and got the export feature working so maybe I need to do some digging in the code that does the export and see if there is anything there that would cause it to do this.
Thank you for the help! Any other ideas are greatly appreciated 🙂
I've also tried a few more experiments.
I've added a Rich Text Editor element and not changed any of the default parameters. When I save, publish and run the app the element does not resize and maintains it's original size. This leads me to believe that something is happening when I try to change the dimensions of the element.
I added a Rich Text Editor and outside of the group that it was built in. I've tried changing it's size parameters a variety of ways but nothing changes. It still ignores these parameters and resets itself once the app is published and run even though in preview it looks fine.
I tried adding a Rich Text Editor and not changing any parameters but the Width. Same problem, the element resizes itself. This is weird since this is just a default element and it wasn't connected to anything in my powerapp.
I've looked through all the code in my app and I don't see anything that seems like it could be resizing this element.
It's very strange.
Found a solution but it makes no sense to me.
I set the width to 1000 and finally got the size of the element to change once saved and published.
After lots of trial and error, I've managed to get the element to kinda fit in place by changing the Height and Width to much larger values than they should be. I removed it from the group and it's just sitting on this screen on it's own.
Any ideas why this particular element is having sizing problems? None of the other elements in this PowerApp are having these issues.
@thguyton that is strange. I've not seen that in any of my apps with the RTE control. I will have to do some further experiments and see if there is something gone wrong.

Awesome!!
Enabling "Lock Aspect Ratio" in the App Settings has fixed the magically self-resizing Rich Text Editor.
Thank you for helping me get this solved so quickly!
Yeapp this actually fixed the issue with the screen size of rich text editor thanks man !! appreciated the help
