hi!
so i'm trying to do something that should be fairly easy, and in fact i know it is because i've done what i'm trying to do in a different part of my app, and it works in one part, but not in the other and i'm hoping someone can help me figure out why.
i'm trying to create a collection from another collection, add two new columns to that new collection, and populate those two columns with data via a lookup to a sharepoint list
my code is as such:
ClearCollect(
colMyCollectionGrouped,
AddColumns(
GroupBy,
colMyCollection,
"Key1",
"Key2",
"Key3",
"Key4",
"GroupedCol"
),
"NewColumn1", LookUp('SharePoint List', Key1 = colMyCollection[@Key_1] && Key2 = colMyCollection[@Key2]).NewColumn1Data,
"NewColumn2", LookUp('SharePoint List', Key1 = colMyCollection[@Key_1] && Key2 = colMyCollection[@Key2]).NewColumn2Data
)
);
it's giving me the "Incompatible types for comparison. These types can't be compared: Text, Table" error at the equals sign where i have "Key1 = colMyCollection[@Key1] && Key2 = colMyCollection[@Key2]" in both of those LookUps.
elsewhere in my app however, i have the same exact code but with the data sources/collection different and it works just fine. in fact, i copy and pasted the code from where it works in my app and just changed the data source/collections to the ones i need.
any one have any idea where i'm going wrong? i just need to populate those NewColumn1 and NewColumn2 columns with their respective column data from the sharepoint list. should be super quick and easy, no?
thanks so much in advance!

i solved this a few days ago, in case anyone has the same problem, here's what i used to fix it:
ClearCollect(
colMyCollectionGrouped,
AddColumns(
GroupBy(
colMyCollection,
"Key1",
"Key2",
"Key3",
"Key4",
"GroupedCol"
) As Grouped,
"NewColumn1", LookUp('SharePoint List', Key1 = Grouped[@Key_1] && Key2 = Grouped[@Key2]).NewColumn1Data,
"NewColumn2", LookUp('SharePoint List', Key1 = Grouped[@Key_1] && Key2 = Grouped[@Key2]).NewColumn2Data
))
i just added "As Grouped" and used "Grouped" in my disambiguation operator
Hi @_ru
Based on the error message "These types can't be compared: Text, Table" you comparing a Text to Table. Meaning that Key1 is Text and colMyCollection[@Key1] is the table. If you a dot behind colMyCollection[@Key1] see what comes up and select the necessary column.
For example:
Key1 = colMyCollection[@Key1].YourColumn && Key2 = colMyCollection[@Key2].YourColumn
Like this your avoiding comparing a Text to a Table.
If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know. Have a great day! 😊

@SpongYe hey sprong!
i tried your suggestion and unfortunately i have the same error. also, when i put a period behind the closing bracket in
Key1 = colMyCollection[@Key1]
nothing pops up for me to select at all.
again, very confused on my end. i appreciate you trying to help however!
Hi @_ru
What kind of field is Key1?
And how does this collection looks like can you make. a printscreen of the collection:

hi @SpongYe ,
Key1 is a text field with a simple 3 letter acronym, and Key2 is a text field with a 4 character alphanumeric key (i.e. 123A) ,
please see the attached screenshot for a sample of my collection:
the goal is to just group the above collection, add two columns, then populate those two columns from columns with the same name in the sharepoint list i'm gathering the data from, like below (but with the data in there of course 😄)
thank you again!
@SpongYe happy friday! and bump (in general for anyone)
i tried someone else's suggest of using "in" instead of an = sign as such:
LookUp('SharePoint List', Key1 in colMyCollection[@Key_1] && Key2 in colMyCollection[@Key2]).NewColumn1Data
and that grabbed data from the sharepoint list, BUT it only grabbed the first row of the sharepoint list and copied the data for that row into all of the rows in my collection, which is incorrect.
the collection it returned was:
Key1 Key2 Key3 Key4 NewColumn1 NewColumn2
ABC | 123A | 1111 | Red | Final | John Doe |
DEF | 123A | 2222 | Blue | Final | John Doe |
GHI | 123C | 3333 | Green | Final | John Doe |
when it should have come out as:
Key1 Key2 Key3 Key4 NewColumn1 NewColumn2
ABC | 123A | 1111 | Red | Final | John Doe |
DEF | 123A | 2222 | Blue | Pending | Jane Johnson |
GHI | 123C | 3333 | Green | Not Started | David Smith |
so, still no luck it seems 😕
again, not sure why this works in another part of my app but not here.
do i have to use some kind of ForAll you think in order to do this?
