I got this code, it collect the emails of all people in my country considering everyone below the country boss:
ClearCollect(colTeam1;UsuariosdeOffice365.DirectReports("CountryBoss@company.com"));;
//collect managers
ClearCollect(colTeam2;Ungroup(ForAll(Filter(colTeam1;!IsBlank(Mail));UsuariosdeOffice365.DirectReports(UserPrincipalName));"Value"));;
//collect ordinary users
ClearCollect(colTeam3;Ungroup(ForAll(Filter(colTeam2;!IsBlank(Mail));UsuariosdeOffice365.DirectReports(UserPrincipalName));"Value"));;
//collect them all
ClearCollect(colTeam;colTeam1;colTeam2;colTeam3)
The on the DataCard for the Person column I have this on Update: (have tried "Selected.Mail - DisplayName - etc" but gives errors)
DataCardValue19.Selected
For the comboBox in Items I have this:
Filter(colTeam; !IsBlank(UserPrincipalName))
Witouth that, there would be blank items.
The error I'm encountering if that my button with "SubmitForm(SharePointForm1)" does not save whatever you select. I need to avoid using Patch, so I need a way to save the selected person. The error it normally shows in PowerApps, is that the Update part expects a Record value.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hello @WorkingRicardo ,
Are you trying to save a Person's data in a SharePoint list? If that's the case try using this in the "Update" property of your datacard:
{
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & DataCardValue19.Selected.Mail;
Department: "";
DisplayName: "";
Email: "";
JobTitle: "";
Picture: Blank()
}
In short: the connector returns a record whose structure is not compatible with SharePoint's expected structure when dealing with users.

hey @WiZey coming back to this, altough it did save my info to the people column, If I try to edit any other data other than People in my App connected to sharepoint list, it gives an error of using Patch the wrong way. Im not using patch so dunno whats going wrong. Im using a button Onselect = SubmitForm(SharepointForm1)
I think that's because the dropdown in the form is not correctly initialized when editing a record.
Can you try adding a default record in "Default" property of the person's datacard? Something like this:
{Mail:ThisItem.Person.Email}
Also, don't forget to check if the "DefaultSelectedItems" property of the dropdown is correctly set to "Parent.Default".
The dropdown must show a value when you're editing a record, otherwise it'll keep a blank value and that's why the "Patch()" submitted by "SubmitForm()" fails.
@WiZey hey again.
Yes! The combobox property for this People field is set to Parent.Default.
For the data card, I changed to {Mail:ThisItem.'Persona responsable'.Email}
(´Persona responsable' name of Sharepoint column). And I can still only save person, but if I save and go back to that item, the person will go blank in the form. If i try to edit any other item, still get the Patch error
My bad, "Person" is the column in my list where I tested the solution. Replace it with your column where you store your users.
But I don't think you need to change the "Default" property of the combobox. Here are the values I've set on my side to make it work:
Combobox.DefaultSelectedItems = Parent.Default
Datacard.Default = {Mail:ThisItem.Person.Email}
I haven't changed anything else, so this much should be enough to make it work on your side.
Hey! @WiZey Yes! I realised later the Default should be tin the Datacard I have it now like you say but still it doesnt allow to save any item if its not the Person. Furthermore, the person combobox goes blank even if you saved an information before when you open it in sharepoint for that item
I'm kind of confused here so let's go step by step.
Hey! @WiZey Ok so:
1- I can only create a new record if I have a person selected, It still gives the error tho. It does save that person to the item
2- I am unable to edit as the patch errow still shows up
3- When trying to edit, the person does remain. It only goes blank if i put the code you told me
Datacard.Default = {Mail:ThisItem.Person.Email}
The only way I can get it to stay is having Default to "ThisItem.'Persona responsable'"
Let me give you a rundown of my codes so far:
Creating the collection with lots of emails (onVisible of app):
ClearCollect(colTeam1;UsuariosdeOffice365.DirectReports("BigBoss@Company.com"));;
//collect managers
ClearCollect(colTeam2;Ungroup(ForAll(Filter(colTeam1;!IsBlank(Mail));UsuariosdeOffice365.DirectReports(UserPrincipalName));"Value"));;
//collect ordinary users
ClearCollect(colTeam3;Ungroup(ForAll(Filter(colTeam2;!IsBlank(Mail));UsuariosdeOffice365.DirectReports(UserPrincipalName));"Value"));;
//collect them all
ClearCollect(colTeam;colTeam1;colTeam2;colTeam3)
Update of PersonDataCard
{
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & DataCardValue19.Selected.UserPrincipalName;
DisplayName: "";
Email: "";
Department: "";
Picture: "";
JobTitle: ""
}
I tried Selected Mail/DisplayName too and to no avail
Then for the items of the comboBox
Filter(colTeam; !IsBlank(UserPrincipalName))
This is because if not, there will be blank items in the collection
The default selectedItems of the combobox is set to: Parent.Default
On select of the button "SubmitForm(SharePointForm1)"
Dunno if important but Display Fieldof Combobox is "["DisplayName";"Email"]" and SearchField "["DisplayName"]"
It is set to only accept one option and be searcheable.
I really don't want to use Patch... So hope there is a fix T_T Ty so much!
