Scan qr and modify registry

Hello,

With excel create a table, to show the records in power apps, it works fine. But I try to add a barcode scanner, so that when I start the application it reads the code and goes to the record I have in excel to modify it. I am a beginner at this, so far I have only achieved this:

Patch(Readings,
Defaults(Readings),
{
BarcodeScanned: BarcodeScanner3.Value,
ScannedPerson: User().FullName,
ScannedTime: Now()
})

But the above only scans the qr and adds it as a new record.

Hi @Anonymous ,

You have to identify the record you want to Patch - you would need a unique identifier (text or numeric)

Patch(
   Readings,
   {IdentifierField:YourRecordIdentifier},
   {
      BarcodeScanned: BarcodeScanner3.Value,
      ScannedPerson: User().FullName,
      ScannedTime: Now()
   }
)

Excuse me, would Identifier Field be a field that I have to create only in the app?

YourRecordIdentifier (would this be the one the barcode scanner reads?

Hi @Anonymous ,

The record you want to Patch needs to have a unique identifier (generally a number is best). In SharePoint, it is generated automatically (ID), so it is easy. In Excel, you may already have a field that always contains a different value and use that.

I change it like this

})

but appers the errors:

The fuction Patch has some invalid arguments

and

The specified colum colum __PowerAppsId__ does not exist

And that column is in my excel file. 😞

Hi @Anonymous ,

The PowerApps ID is not visible as an identifier - you need to have something else unique in the record. Also it has to match the field in the record you are trying to update (so varScan is probably not the match).

First i use the button scan the barcode to excel, with the code:

{Asset: DataCardValue4},
{
BarcodeScanned: BarcodeScanner3.Value,
ScannedPerson: User().FullName,
ScannedTime: Now()
})

Asset is the name of the column from excel.

DataCardValue4 is the field from the Detail Screen (sc3.PNG down Asset)

But just loading and nothing happend

But i need when first scan the qr show the Detail screen where show Asset, idAsset, and the date, for edit the field Horas.

Hello Thanks for your support.

I Add .Text, but it doesn't work for me.

I scan the qr and it shows that it is loading and that's all, nothing happens.

Is it that I have to use the navigate function so that when scanning the code it directs me to the other screen?

Not sure why adding .Text does not work if the Asset Field matches the text box as the syntax is just a basic patch, however Excel is not the ideal data source for many reasons.

The Navigate is a separate issue - just add it to the end of the code. Navigate(YourScreenName)
