Send an Email with one button click

Hello, 

I have an edit form. If DataCardValue230 in that form ='s "Approved" (data field is a dropdown), when the save button is clicked, I want the project lead (email address is in LabelLeadEmailAddress) to be sent an email. If DataCardValue230='s anything but "Approved" when the save button is clicked, then I just want the form saved. How can I do this?

I would do this using the Submit's Onsuccess with an if statement to check for the "Approved" then run the flow.

Once you have added the Office365Outlook connector, you can add this to the  OnSelect of your Submit Button:

Hi @RogierE, thanks for your response. I've replicated your code and it isn't causing an error but I'm not receiving the email that's supposed to go to the project lead, for one where I'm the project lead. The code I'm using is below. Do you know what the problem is?

In my dummy version of your App it does. 

What you could do is run your app from edit mode, prepare to send, but not press the submit button yet. 

Then when you exit your run and go back to edit mode, you can check the value of each part of your code, by selecting a word in your code. Here for example, I checked that the outcome of my AND statement is true, so my mail will be sent. 

If in your App the outcome of the AND statement is false (I guess it is), then by selecting 'varSuccess' or 'DataCardValue230.Selected.Value="Approved"' you can see which one is false and than correct that. For example if "approved" is without capitals, this might be why the outcome is false. 

Oh and one more thing: you don't need to close the IF statement with a second Submit. This is not leading to your email not being sent, but just useless. You're submitting your form a second time. It was already submitted in the first line of code. As @IamnotBob  suggested: first submit, then send upon submit success.

The reason I suggested the OnSuccess was to prevent the action triggering if it failed. I was just following the best practice someone taught me not using any extra code in the OnSelect than needed since Submit could fail for any reason such as dropped network, locked data source or solar flares. In either case RogierE code should be all you need.

Thank you @RogierE . One thing I see that you have different is that where your approved status is. You have yours in a drop down box, mine is a drop down within the edit form. Would change anything in the code used?

Hi @RogierE ! The issue seems to be with the reference to DataCardValue230 within the edit form. I have fixed the issue by placing a text label outside of my edit form and showing the approval status in that label, then referencing that label in my formula instead of the data card in the edit form.  It's working now. Thank you for your help with this!
