Sending a Photo to SharePoint Library with a Dropdown Selection

Hello,

I have built a Power App that sends a photo to a SharePoint Library based off of Shane Young's tutorial.

I have a dropdown list called ModelNumber that pulls its values from another SharePoint List on the same site.

However, the item selected in the dropdown in the app is not transferring back to the SharePoint Library that the Photo is being sent to.

Here is the piece of code that is currently being used, which I believe is the issue here:

Set(FileLinkFromFlow,UploadaphototoSharePointfromPowerApps.Run(PhotoTitle&".jpg", TakenPic, Select([@ModelNumber])).filelink)

According to Shane Young's Video the piece of code should look like this:

Set(FileLinkFromFlow,UploadaphototoSharePointfromPowerApps.Run(PhotoTitle&".jpg", TakenPic, ModelNumber.Selected.Value.filelink)

However, the function editor will not accept this, and the Save to SharePoint Button will not work if the "right code" is entered, I somehow stumbled upon the Select([@ModelNumber])).filelink after about an hour of messing with this but I think this is wrong because the selected dropdown items does not populate back to the SharePoint Library.

Here is a photo for reference:

Hi @caruso1058 ,

Without seeing your Flow, I can assume that you are returning a value of the file link to Power Apps (it will be generally be the last item in the Flow with "Respond to a Power App or Flow"), but if you want the content of the drop-down sent to the Metadata of the Library, a Select Statement is not going to do this - you need the value produced by the drop-down. You seem to be using this parameter for the file link returned - this is not where this goes - you are already setting the Variable FileLinkFromFlow to this value.

Set(
   FileLinkFromFlow, //Set a Variable for the returned value from the Flow
   UploadaphototoSharePointfromPowerApps.Run(        //Run your Flow
      PhotoTitle&".jpg",                             //Send the File Name
      TakenPic,                                      //Send the photo
      Select(
         [@ModelNumber]
      )                                             //this is wrong
   ).filelink
)

I do not have the name of your control, nor the Items property, but you need this

Set(
   FileLinkFromFlow, //Set a Variable for the returned value from the Flow
   UploadaphototoSharePointfromPowerApps.Run(        //Run your Flow
      PhotoTitle&".jpg",                             //Send the File Name
      TakenPic,                                      //Send the photo
      YourDropdownName.Selected.xxxx                 //See note on xxxx
   )
)

xxxx will depend on the Items of the drop-down and will be either .Value, .Result or .FieldName (actual field name it is based on). After you type .Selected. (note second dot), you will see the valid values underneath.

Hello @WarrenBelz ,

Thank you for your help with this.

Once I entered in the DropDown Name.Selected (ModelNumber.Selected.) I was prompted to choose one of column names from the SharePoint List, just as you mentioned.

I chose the name of the item that the dropdown list is based on, however that seems to have introduced another issue as it currently states there is an invalid value for parameter 'Updatefileproperties_ModelNumberId'

I included the photo for context as well as the Flow that is bringing this into SharePoint. Any further assistance is greatly appreciated!

Hello @WarrenBelz ,

I messed with this a little more.
The item needed to be changed to 'ID' rather than 'Model Number'

Set(FileLinkFromFlow,UploadaphototoSharePointfromPowerApps.Run(PhotoTitle&".jpg", TakenPic, ModelNumber.Selected.ID))

Everything is working as expected now thanks to your advice.

Thanks a bunch for all of your help!!
