Setting gallery default item

I'm new to powerapps and seem to be having trouble passing data between two forms.

I have the first form where the user can enter a Job number or use a button to list active jobs - this is on a new form.

The active jobs form has a gallery control that correctly lists the jobs available.

Where I'm stuck is getting the default property to jump to the job number from the first screen - I have passed it in via a variable (DefaultJobNo) - and this shows the correct value if I show it using a Notify message.

This is the items property on the gallery control

SortByColumns(Filter('[dbo].[ES_Job]',ActiveJob=true),"JobNo",Descending)

These are the things I've tried on the defaults property:

LookUp('[dbo].[ES_Job]', JobNo=Value(DefaultJobNo))

and

First(Filter('[dbo].[ES_Job]',JobNo=Value(DefaultJobNo)))

When selected I want to send the chosen job record back to the original screen.

Any clues or pointers on where I'm going wrong would be appreciated.

Hello @SimonGoodman 

Without fully understanding your requirement, you should be able use a gallery.selected in the form property. If this doesn't answer your question, plesae add some print screens of the screens and formulas, or attach the app so that we can check it out.

Could you please share more details of your App screens and controls?

Is the original screen is Browse screen, and is the gallery in this screen?
