Show/hide specific gallery buttons (tabbed form) If option in dropdown is selected

Hi Experts

I am trying to develop an intuitive data entry point, which will show/hide forms/datacards and show/hide buttons according to what is selected. At the moment, i though a Gallery for buttons might be easiest option, however i am unsure what is needed to make some buttons visible or not, dependant on what has been selected. 

This is what i have so far.  The purple buttons are in a Gallery:

Ultimatly, i want the first button/tab to be visible always and subsequent button/tabs to become visible if a criteria is met. for example, if Document Type is "Disucssion" then the 3rd button will become visible, otherwise it will be hidden.

also, if Document Type "Discussion" is selected, then the screen will only the Discussion Form.  I was thinking I could achieve this by making a white rectangle cover off the initial details, and have a new Discussion Form visible. as per screenshot below:

As you can see, i have the white page and form working.  I just would like to ensure only relevant buttons are visible at a time.

Is this possible or is there an easier way to go about this?  Happy to screenshot more info if needed.

Hello, @KristyH, How about using the Local Context variables? for example:

if Document Type "Discussion" is selected : UpdateContext({lclVarDiscussionIsSelected:true}). 

Then, 

on the 3rd button .Visible property use: lclVarDiscussionIsSelected 

Same for the Form.Visible >> lclVarDiscussionIsSelected

After that, when another button is clicked, set the variable to false: UpdateContext({lclVarDiscussionIsSelected:true}) and initialize another variable.

because the buttons are in a "Gallery", i can only change properties on the first button. how do i change the 2nd or 3rd button if it is in a Gallery?

@KristyH . ahh. Do you need them to be in a gallery? You can have them in a Container? Inside a Gallery will take a longer process that include creating other gallery items and use the Patch function to update those items values.

ooh ok. so i would just make a container at the top and insert individual buttons?

i'm self-taught with Power Apps so would need assistance on the "patch" function. my knowledge at the moment is basic as i have no coding background
