Sort DataTable by the content of DropDown

Hi all,

I'm trying to sort a DataTable by the content of DropDown,
In my DropDown there is "Waiting for approval", "Rejected", "Approved".
When the contents of the DropDown is = "Approved" I want it to appear in the DataTable.

I tried to use in that Formula:
Filter (RequestForCourse, Status.Value =...)

But I can not access the content

Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance,
Maor

Can you please clarify the following sentence?

"Now, in PowerApps I want to use a Data Table table. In this table I want to display only the Items in the Status field"

Do you mean that you want to display only items that have a certain status field (or certain status fields)? If so then the formulas already provided in this forum thread will do that:

Filter(RequestForCourse, Status.Value = "Approved")  - for a single filtered field

Filter(RequestForCourse, Status.Value = "Approved" || Status.Value = "Rejected")  - for multiple status fields.

If however you're looking to display all the available choices (statuses) in a single cell, then you will probably need an "EditForm" control, not a DataTable control. After biding an EditForm to your SP List, PowerApps will automatically create a ComboBox-based card and will associate it with your "choice" type field (Status). For more information about this option, you can create a test app out of your SP list (File-New-Sharepoint Phone app) and then check Screen #3 for more details.

Since you've tried using the "Filter" function, I assume you would like to filter (not sort) your data in data table.

Your approval values (Waiting, Rejected, Approved) are static so you could use osmething like this:

Filter(RequestForCourse, Status.Value = ComboBox1.Selected.Value)

The example above assumes that the  "
RequestForCourse" source contains the "Status" field that containes all the valid approval values, that those values are populated in a ComboBox control and that the ComboBox control is in a single selection mode (so you cannot select "Rejected" and "Approved" at the same tyime for example).

First of all thanks for the quick answer @dinusc

Sorry but I did not explain myself well.
I use in Sharepoint list. I have a Choice field named Status and it contains the three options (Waiting, Rejected, Approved).
I want to filter and display only what is "Approved" in the DataTable.

It is possible?

Thanks again

Correct. The formula above should work for you.In your Sharepoint list, make sure that the Status field (of type Choices) does not allow multiple selections. Then set your ComboBox control as following: ComboBox.Items = Choices(RequestForCourse, Status)

Then set your DataTable as following: DataTable.Items = Filter(RequestForCourse, Status.Value = ComboBox1.Selected.Value)

After that, selecting an option from the ComboBox control ("Approved" for example) should automatically filter your DataTable control

Thanks again @dinusc

But I dont use any comboBox, I want to use the content of a field (Choice field, named status) in the item I created in the list.

I use a DataTable that only displays what its status is "Approved" on my Sharepoint list

Thanks

I thought you wanted to use a DropDown control (form your first message) and therefore I suggested to use a ComboBox which is very close functionally but can be bound to your Choice field from your SharePoint list.

Can you please explain again what controls you're trying to use and how would you like to filter your list (selecting an item from DropDown/ComboBox control, checkbox, Listbox or else)?

The filter formula above can work with any value, regardless where it comes from. The Status field does not even need to be added to the Data Table control.

Add a combo box control in your app and set its item property tot Choices(SharePointListName.Satatus).

This will display Waiting, Rejected and Approved as choices.

Let me know how this goes (while I am creating a test app)...

Confrmed. That worked for me. I can see the content of the Choices column in the combobox control

Is that what were looking for? If so, mark it as an accepted solution, if not ask more, specific question.

Maorzd23 was looking for a way to filter the data table control and using the ComboBox control for that has been already suggested.
