Survey with branching questions - Sharepoint and PowerApps

Hi All,

I am trying to create an app to roll out a survey and i am confused on how to set it up due to its complexity. Any suggestions would be of great help.

I have 3 topics, each topic will have 3 Primary questions (they are optional), and if any of these primary question is selected then it will have branching question as well.

I created the Sharepoint List as below. I created Blank Gallery, added Combo box fields to display Primary question and Branch questions using visible property.

I am trying to store the survey output back to Sharepoint, tried using collection property to collect all survey reposnes if combobobox is checked usng OnCheck property. But, not sure how to patch it bacl to sharepoint.

is there any better way to do this? I am open to redesign the list if needed.

Thanks,

Mohan S

Hi,

I would go a different route.

I would do the survey in forms and use the out of the box power automate template On now form create new SharePoint item, then use Powerapps as you want to render the data

Hi @MohanS,

Could you please share more about your scenario?

Do you want to save all the survey response back to SP list?

Actually, you could generate an app directly based on the SP list by clicking the following tab.

vqiaqimsft_0-1636425145056.png

Then you would have a Gallery within a BrowseScreen, a Detail Form within a DetailScreen and an Edit Form within the EditScreen:

vqiaqimsft_1-1636425710108.png

Here you could click the "+" icon to create new records or click a certain record to edit it and save it.

To make your Text fields change into Combo Box fields, you could click the "Edit fields" tab and select the Allowed values from the Control type as below:

vqiaqimsft_2-1636425905324.png

vqiaqimsft_3-1636425935209.png

Then unlock the data cards and set the Items property as below:vqiaqimsft_4-1636426084748.png

Distinct(ListName,'Primary Question')
Distinct(ListName,'Branch Question 1')

Set the Update property of the data cards as below:

DataCardValue15.Selected.Result // DataCardValue15 represents the ComboBox

Or if you would like to create a edit grid of the Gallery, you could check the following video:

Best Regards,
Qi

@JayMagness Thanks for your suggestions. I am not comfortable with forms due to its limitations in designing. Will give it a try.

@v-qiaqi-msft Thanks for sharing the details. I am doing the same thing.

Yes, I am trying to save the survey results back to SharePoint lists. Below are the details.

I am using Blank Gallery with "Choice" added to show questions and dynamically show/hide branch questions if primary question is selected.

Hope i am not confusing.

Thanks,

Mohan S
