Timer not updating a variable in edit mode

Hello,

I'm quite new to PowerApps and Power automate, until now all i have done were small form automatizations,

Here is my problem:

I have a custom form in a SharePoint list, the timer: Duration 1000, autostarts with vTimer variable and OnTimerEnd sets a variable to now :Set(CurrentTime;Now())

The labels text property is set to that variable: Text(CurrentTime;DateTimeFormat.ShortDateTime24).

I set the vTimer variable to true on the OnVisible property (Set(vTimer;true)), also have tried to add it to the OnNew, OnEdit...

If I Ctrl + F5 and press "New" without interacting with the list elements, it works, the timer starts and the label shows the time, after this I can cancel and edit any list element, as the label will be updated every second.

If I interact with a list element first , the label will be blank and won't show anything, therefore I can't use the label value in subsecuent actions... but if I press Ctrl + F5 and press new it works perfectly fine.

Has anybody had the same problem before? i'm out of ideas

There is one more property you need to set.  There is a Repeat property that controls whether AutoStart will start the timer after the first time.  Its False by default and in your case should be True.  That's why it works the first time, but doesn't continue to cycle unless you press Ctrl+F5 to refresh.

I had to double check, Repeat was already turned to True,

The timer counts 1 sec but it doesn't upload the label

So I replicated what you are trying to do.

1) Added the label and timer to a custom data card in the form

2) Settings for the timer

    Autostart: true

    Repeat: true

    OnTimerEnd: Set(CurrentTime;Now())

    Duration: 1000

3) Settings for the Label

    Text: Text(CurrentTime;"MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss")

ShortTime format will also work, but doesn't show the seconds so it looks like its not working.

Hello Again,

Now that I show the seconds in the label i can add new info,

It seems like the first time I enter the form it sets the variable:

• If in new form, it shows and updates it every second
  • If after that I try to edit a line, the variable shows the value it took in new mode but is not updated
• If I try to edit a line, the label never gets a value and remains empty

So it might be related to the edit mode or not reseting the variables OnHidden?

I recreated it in a smaller list, same names same fields and I can't replicate it

Could it be due to the fact that i'm managing around 2 global and 52 context variables?

Hello Again,

I figured it out myself,

For design purposes, I used a Custom DataCard in the form and put the controls inside, for some reason that was causing the variables not to get updated,

Everything started working as soon as I moved them to the FormScreen
