I am currently engaged in a project at my workplace, developing a Weekly Trivia App. While searching for resources, I've come across numerous videos and materials related to basic quizzes, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any concrete examples or tutorials specifically tailored to this type of app. The closest thing I found was an article titled "How to Create a Power Apps Quiz to Educate Your Enterprise" on skypointcloud.com, but it doesn't delve into the actual process of building the app.
Our preference is to have the questions and answers stored in either Dataverse or SharePoint, as it would make it convenient for non-developers to add and update content in the app. I'm familiar with creating quizzes using radio buttons for multiple-choice questions, but I'm currently facing challenges in figuring out the logic for incorporating true/false questions and checkboxes. Many other quizzes I've come across use multiple screens, but this approach seems to require a lot of manual updating each week, which we'd like to avoid.
As we're currently in the requirements phase of the project, it's crucial to resolve this aspect and determine the parameters for the type of questions we want before we begin the actual development. By figuring this out now, we can ensure a smoother and more efficient process going forward.
I'm curious if anyone has information on the construction of the quiz app featured on skypointcloud.com, specifically how they implemented the questions. Alternatively, if there are any other quiz app examples available, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to review them. Analyzing such examples could provide valuable insights and guidance for developing our own app.
As per your requirement i am guessing you want something dynamic assuming your weekly quiz questions will be different for each week. You can't go with traditional form approach. You need to define your questionnaire in a list and Answers for each question. Its a complex process to do but once you are able to setup. You wont need to do any changes in PowerApps. Try browsing for videos on dynamic forms in powerapp
To keep a uniform look between true false & multiple choice questions (assuming you are building what you sw at that link) I would just make the 4 choices for questiosn that are true false, true false and 2 blanks.. then have the galery answer choices are stored have this for the answer buttons visibility !IsBlank(ThisItem.Value)
app seems like a gallery in upper right to display possible pt values of the question
a gallery at the bottom for the answer choices & questions
an image of logo and high scorer in upper left, and current user photo and status in center.
would need a sharepoint list, and sharepoint connector in app, as well as the office365users connector.
probably want a splist for questions, and one for user scores.
How would it work to have multiple answers? I understand the lists for questions and answer. But in the answer, it is just 1 item. How would it work if the answer is multiple items?
if you need one where you can select multiple you can either concatenate the items they chose in the galleyr to a single line of text column, or place them in a choices column (single line of text will be easier to delegate later technically but both would be fine becuase odds are you wouldn't being doing searches later by a specific answer, more likely to search by things like date, employee name, and total score
Thanks everyone! We have decided to simplify the quiz and just use multiple choice options. I have started a gallery with the 4 buttons and having issues .
Here is one example. I need to have the 4 button shuffle the answers each time it is accessed. If I use this code: First(Shuffle(colQuizTest.ShuffledAnswers).ShuffleAnswer1) it says that ShuffleAnswer1 is not valid. But if I put is as First(First(colQuizTest).ShuffledAnswers).ShuffleAnswer1, it works - just doesn't shuffle. Why would I get errors on the Shuffle but not when First? Is there a better way to do this? I had created a nested table and it shuffles the nested table and pulls out those items.
