Trouble updating field on activity table to reflect changes on main table.

Hi, 

I am new to model driven apps and have taken over management/development of an App.

I have an activity table to track program management tasks.  One Program - Many tasks.

Program (std Table)

Program Id

Program Name

End Date

Program Tasks (activity table)

Task ID

Task Name

Task Due Date (  = program End Date - 7 Days)

When the End date of the main Program is updated I need to update the Due Date for each of the related program tasks.  

I am unable to do this I have tried calculated fields, I have tried flows.  I think my issue is that I cannot retrieve the End Date from the Programs table.  I think I am having difficulty due to the table type - i.e activity.  (but not 100% sure)

Can anyone offer any advice please?

You need to build relationship between them

One to Many

So, one Program ID =1 have Many Tasks in that case Task ID ProgramFK ID Task Name Task Due Date

After You relate them, you can Lookup(Program (std Table), Program ID = ProgramFK ID,End Date) to retrieve the date You are looking for

Thank you SebS, there is already a 'Regarding' relationship set up - do I need to set up a new relationship?

You create a relationship in Datavers table, or You are using Relate function?

Also, How You updated the End date of the main Program from a dropdown in a form ?

Hi SebS I have a regarding relationship, I have been unable to get another lookup to work. I have added the formula in a formula column which doesn't recognise my table nor column.

I have tried a flow - which funs without error - but fails to update the child column.

The table I am trying to auto update is an activity table and it uses Regarding relationships - does that make a difference?

End Date is a user input date field

I'm really puzzled here, probably a lack of experience with Dataverse tables.

maybe @Pstork1  could look into Your issue and help. If not. I hope, someone with more experience with Datavers will drop by and give You some advice.

SebS you have been a lot of help thank you.  I have finally solved my problem using flows  - after much effort trying to understand the 'Regarding' relationships.
