Unable to change button text after record submitted sharepoint list

Hi 

I got a simple app checks if the current user has already got record ,If current user  already got a record button text  should display edit record and form mode should be edit mode , 

If current user dont have have any record ,button should display set a record and form should on new mode. I am able change the form edit/new depending on if user has got a record or not but my button text does not change

I got the following formula but it does not work  

Button on select : If(And(IsBlank(varUserRecord);btntext="Set a record" ,NewForm(frmA),UpdateContext({btntext: "Edit record"})),EditForm(frmA)); 

Screen on visible : UpdateContext({btntext:"Set a record"});

Appreciate if you could help

@ezi79 you can't set/assign the text of a button like that.

Instead of "btntext="Set a record" use Set(varButtonLabel,"Set a record")

For the Text property of your button where you want the text to be dynamic use: varButtonLabel

I think your parentheses are mismatched.  You need to close the And() after the second criteria btntext="Set a record". I think this is what you want.

If(And(IsBlank(varUserRecord);btntext="Set a record") ,NewForm(frmA),UpdateContext({btntext: "Edit record"}),EditForm(frmA));

In PowerApps you can't assign a value to a property like the "Text" property of a button with

button.Text = "my text to show"

You have to do something like this. Place three buttons on your screen. name them button1, button2 and button3

For button1 use this expression in  OnSelect

Set(varButton3TextLabel,"Textvalue 123")

For button2 use this expression in OnSelect

Set(varButton3TextLabel,"Textvalue ABCD")

For the Text property on button 3 use:

varButton3TextLabel

When you now click button1 or button2 the Text on button3 will change.

Not sure where you set the variable varUserRecord. But in the same place you could add also

If(
    IsBlank(varUserrecord),
    Set(
        varButtonText,
        "Set a record"
    );
    NewForm(frmA),
    Set(
        varButtonText,
        "Edit record"
    );
    EditForm(frmA)
)

On the button where you want to change the text property set the text property to "varButtonText"
