Thank you for taking the time to read my question.
I have the following code as one of the columns to patch in a Patch function:
UpdatedAddedOn:Text(UpdatedOn.Text,"[$-en]yyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.fff AM/PM")
The column in the SQL table I'm updating is a datetime field.
PowerApps is showing an error: Type type of this argument 'UpdatedAddedOn' does not match the expected type 'Date'Time'. Found type 'Text'.
If I use DateTimeValue() instead of Text() I don't get an error but it will not pass seconds
I have a label called UpdatedON that has the Text set to a variable called CurrTime.
Set(CurrTime,Now())
When I click my save button, I first run Set(CurrTime,Now()) then I run my Patch(). I do this so the user can see the date and the time on which they added the record to the database. I know this time doesn't match the exact time the record was actually updated/added to the table but it's more as a reference for the user.
Thanks again for your time.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Changing the variable to:
UpdatedAddedOn : CurrTime
For the AM/PM, you can create a view to convert the time in SQL server or when you pull the data back to Gallery in Powerapps, that can be done.

Hi @eka24
Thank you very much for your reply.
When I do that, the whole function is red underlined. The error message is: Incompatible Type. We can't evaluate your formula because the context variable types are incompatible with the types of values in other places in your app.
I have 2 places where I set the CurrTime value and I've updated both places with your code.
in my label UpatedOn, I have an error (red circle with white x). When I edit the error in the formula bar I am taken to the Text property. The Text property is set to CurrTime.
Thanks
Hi @eka24 ,
I found one more spot I forgot about where I Set CurrTime. I fixed that and the error on UpdatedOn went away.
However when I changed to the following I get the errror:
UpdatedAddedOn:CurrTime
Error: The Type of this argument 'UpdatedAddedOn' does not match the expected type 'DateTime'. Found type 'Text;.
If I wrap CurrTime in DateTimeValue() the seconds are dropped again...
Thanks,
Kindly give the full Patch formula

Patch('[dbo].[tblInfo]',First(Filter('[dbo].[tblInfo]',ID = recID)),{Description:tProductDesc.Text,SignalWord:If(ddSignalWord.SelectedText.Value = "Danger","Dgr_00",If(ddSignalWord.SelectedText.Value = "Warning","Wng_00")),Signs:Left(Concat(collSelectedSigns,selSigns & " "),Len(Concat(collSelectedSigns,selSigns & " "))-1),'H-numbers':Trim(Concat(Filter(collAllHNum,IsChosen = true),Title & " ")),'P-numbers':Trim(Concat(Filter(collAllPNum,IsChosen = true),Title & " ")),UpdatedAddedBy:UpdatedBy.Text,UpdatedAddedOn:CurrTime,UpdatedAddedMethod:"App"})
In my case, I wanted to set a time duration using the Update property of a data card. This worked for me:
Text(Time(<hour>, <minute>, <second>), "hh:mm:ss")
I imagine you could do the same thing in a patch function.
