Update Latitude and Longitude in a SharePoint List using a Map Control

I have a SharePoint list containing details of construction sites; it contains fields to hold the latitude and longitude of each site. I want to design a Power Apps form for the list to achieve the following functionality:

1. When the form loads:
   1. If the latitude and longitude fields of the selected row have values, display a pin on a map showing the location.
   2. If the latitude and longitude fields of the selected row have no values, do not display a pin and set the map to centre on the current location
2. The ability to relocate the pin on the map by clicking on the map - the forms latitude and longitude fields should be updated to reflect the new coordinates.

I have been able to achieve 1a, but I can not work out how to achieve 1b and 2

Can anybody help me?

hi @michaelcscott 

assuming your value blank or null and your data is in a collection. you can replace the blank point add this after your collect command

1b (replace the blanks with the center points)

UpdateIf(YourDataCollection,IsBlank(LongitudeColumn),{LongitudeColumn: YourMapControl.CenterLocation.Longitude},IsBlank(LattitudeColumn),{LattitudeColumn: YourMapControl.CenterLocation.Latitude})

2.

first get the name of the point you wish to update.

LookUp(YourDataCollection,And(Longitude=YourMapControl.Selected.Longitude,Lattitude = YourMapControl.Selected.Lattitude)).Name

Now get the new point by click where you wish to have it.

Have an update button on the app which OnSelect =

Patch(YourDataSource,{Name:YourLookedUpName},{Longitude: YourMapControl.ClickedLocation.Longitude,LattitudeYourMapControl.ClickedLocation.Latitude})

Being relatively new to Power Apps, I would appreciate some further guidance.

I am OK with creating the button and adding the code to the OnSelect event, but I am unsure where the code for 1b and 2 should go?

Number 1b

Let's assume you are using a SharePoint list as your data source (this can be any data source the procedure will be the same).  I assume you have the data source already as you can plot points on the map. Below the datasource Locations have a Place Ashton with blank latitude and longitude.

Mapping this will only have two locations (i misread you earlier i thought you wanted those with blanks filled with the center so please ignore that code)

Set the default location on the map where you wish it to open.

when you click the place with no point assigned to it and default to selected location it will go to long:0 lat:0 as no selection was made. set the current location as follows:

CurrentLocationLatitude =  

If(IsBlank(YourMapControl.ClickedLocation.Latitude),YourMapControl.CenterLocation.Latitude,YourMapControl.ClickedLocation.Latitude)

CurrentLocationLongitude = 

If(IsBlank(YourMapControl.ClickedLocation.Longitude),YourMapControl.CenterLocation.Longitude,YourMapControl.ClickedLocation.Longitude)

Now when you select the place without point nothing will displace but these points are captured.

Selecting Montagu (icon)

Selecting Ashton (no icon)

Select the icon of the place you wish to update, get the name of the place.

On the Maps OnSelect = UpdateContext({ToBeEdited: Self.Selected.Name})

you now have the name, let change the points

Add the button, OnSelect = 

If(!IsBlankOrError(ToBeEdited), Patch(Locations,{ID:LookUp(Locations, Title = ToBeEdited).ID},{Title:ToBeEdited,Longitude: YourMapControl.ClickedLocation.Longitude,Latitude: YourMapControl.ClickedLocation.Latitude}));UpdateContext({ToBeEdited:""})

Selecting the icon (lets change the point for Montagu)

 Now that we have the name lets click somewhere else on the map

Now lets update the pint with the button

New points for montagu
