Hi All,
I have below scenario-
I have created one record and store it in journey collection using "Submit" button and send it to datasource using "Send to source" button when there is internet connection. Now I want to update that record's end date field in the collection "Save" button. Also, I have one more button which on click I have below code to update that end date in CDS (data source) -
I have used below code but it is not working to update that record in datasource. Instead it is updating the first record in the CDS entity.
Entity name- Journeys and Collection name - JourneyCollection
If(
Connection.Connected ,
ForAll(
JourneyColletion,
Patch(
Journeys,
LookUp(Journeys,Journey_ID=cre08_journey_id),
{
'Journey End Date and Time': cre08_journeyenddateandtime //this part is creating problem
}
)
)
);
SaveData(
JourneyColletion,
"Saveitemstokeep"
);
What I want to achieve is - To update a record and that should reflect in datasource. Also, there might be scenario like the the user is offline, he can end the multiple journey by updating those particular record's end date in the JourneyCollection. but how can I update multiple records into data source?
How can I solve this or any other way of doing it?
Hi @Anonymous ,
Could you please share a bit more about your issue?
Do you mean that the Patch function could not update the specific record in your Journeys Entity, instead, always the first record?
Further, is the "Journey_ID" column a Unique Identifier column in your Journeys Entity?
I assume that you have updated these specific records in your JourneyColletion already, please consider modify your formula as below:
If(
Connection.Connected ,
ForAll(
JourneyColletion As LoopRecord,
Patch(
Journeys,
LookUp(Journeys, 'Journeys (cre08_journeysid)' = LoopRecord.cre08_journeysid),
{
'Journey End Date and Time': LoopRecord.cre08_journeyenddateandtime //this part is creating problem
}
)
)
);
SaveData(
JourneyColletion,
"Saveitemstokeep"
);
Note: The 'Journeys (cre08_journeysid)' represents the 'Unique Identifier' type column in your Journeys Entity. The cre08_journeysid represents the logic name of the 'Unique Identifier' column in your JourneyColletion. Please replace them with actual column name from your Entity data source and Collection table.
Please try above solution, then check if the issue is solved.

Hi @v-xida-msft ,
My issue is I am not able to update the record in the data source, but I am able to update it in the collection.
Yes, using the formula which I shared earlier, Patch function could not update the specific record in your Journeys Entity, instead, always the first record.
Journey_ID is not a unique identifier. it is text field in the "Journey" entity. But those text are unique.
Here, cre08_journey_id column in the collection is created by using - Text(GUID()) formula. And this is inserting in Journey_ID field in the entity having text datatype. Now while updating the record in the datatsource I want to use that column to filter record in the patch formula.
And in the collection I have data which i want to update to datasource. No extra data in the collection.
Let me know if you need additional information.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Have you tried the solution I provided above?
Regarding the issue that you mentioned, I think this issue is related to the LookUp formula that you mentioned. If you want to update record in your "Journey" Entity, you must find the specific record you want to update firstly.
If you want to use your LookUp formula to retrieve the specific record in your "Journey" Entity, please make sure you have save the cre08_journey_id column value from your collection back to the Journey_ID field in your Entity already. Otherwise, the LookUp function would not work.
In addition, when you patch your collection data into your Entity as new entries, please make sure each item in your collection has been created as a new entry in your Entity, rather than, multiple entries in your Entity have same Journey_ID field value. Please go to your Journey Entity, then check if multiple entries have same Journey_ID field value (Text GUID value). Please use the following formula to add your Collection table records as new entries in your Journey Entity:
ForAll(
JourneyColletion As LoopRecord,
Patch(
Journeys,
Defaults(Journeys),
{
Journey_ID: LoopRecord.cre08_journey_id,
...
...
}
)
)
Or you could also consider modify your "Update" formula as below:
If(
Connection.Connected ,
ForAll(
JourneyColletion As LoopRecord,
UpdateIf(
Journeys,
Journey_ID = LoopRecord.cre08_journey_id,
{
'Journey End Date and Time': LoopRecord.cre08_journeyenddateandtime //this part is creating problem
}
)
)
);
SaveData(
JourneyColletion,
"Saveitemstokeep"
);
Please try above solution, check if the issue is solved.

Hi @v-xida-msft ,
Yes, there is a problem with a lookup formula. And I am sending the cre08_journey_id column value from your collection back to the Journey_ID field in your Entity while creating the journey. Also, when I add data to CDS I made sure that each record has different Journey_ID.
I have tried that formula and it throwing me error.
i tried the updateif formula it didn't work.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Within your LookUp formula, please replace the 'Journeys (cre08_journey_id)' column with "Journey_ID" (which is the actual column display name in your CDS Entity).
If you could share a screenshot about your Entity's data structure and the collection's data structure, it would be better for me to solve your issue.
