Upon SubmitForm() Dropdown Changes Value

I have a small PowerApps app that is essentially an asset management app (check something out, see whats checked out, and check it back in).  To check out assets I am using a Form in New Mode that is tied to two data sources: The first data source is a list of assets and their status and is used to populate a drop down box by using a Filter(AssetList, Status = "In") type filter.  The second data source is a log file that the form is writing to that just logs what asset was checked out, who it was checked out to, and when. 

Upon submitting the form via a button, I am doing a Patch update to the asset list to mark the status as checked out, and then doing a Submit Form, and then navigating to a success page. I noticed that all of a sudden my log file started having the wrong asset listed. Upon doing some investigation it appears that upon the SubmitForm() function firing, the drop down list is changing back to the first item in the drop down list and that is what is being saved in the file.  Removing the drop down and recreating it will temporarily resolve the issue. If I remove the SubmitForm() and change it to a Patch, it is updating appropriately so it seems to be tied to the submit form.

I also tried removing the filter on the drop down as I thought it may be refreshing the filter, but that appears to have no effect. I'm a bit confused on why this is happening, does anyone have any suggestions?

Example:

A user can check out Computer #1, #2, #3, and so on. They select computer #3 and click submit. On the screen the drop down will change to Computer #1, and then Computer #1 is what is stored in the log file. Computer #3 is updated in the asset checkout status table (which is occurring before the submit form).

What other properties have you populated for the dropdown? Also is there any form of Refresh() anywhere?

The only non-standard property / action I have for the drop down is that I unlocked it and set the Items to be Filter(AssetList, Status = "In"). Everything else is set the same.  I thought about a Refresh and I've checked every control on the form and don't see a Refresh Action anywhere.

Interestingly if I remove the SubmitForm() action and just change this to a patch it doesn't seem to happen....

Update: I figured out what the issue in this scenario was after thinking about it for a while and wanted to include it in case anyone else had the same issue.

I have a Patch to the list of assets that can be checked out that I'm updating prior to the submit form. I have a filter on the dropdown box that has a status of assets that are "In". Upon patching the asset to "out",  the filter on my dropdown is refreshing prior to the submit form and thus defaulting to the first value in the drop down.

The work around I used was to create a variable, assign the value of the drop down to the variable upon submit, patch the asset list, and then prior to the submit form performing a patch using that variable. Thanks for the suggestions!
