Users have to enter credentials in shared connections, but then those credentials don't hold

We have our on prem data gateway installed and we can create apps that work for SharePoint. When we share the apps, they appear for users as expected but we get the red bar at that top saying "unknown error...etc." If the users go to the connection that was shared with the app, they can edit it and enter their credentials. The app then work on all devices, until the next day when they have to enter the credentials in the connection again for it to work. This happenes on all users except the account that was created for the data gateway setup and the guy who is the administrator of our office 365 environment. It would seem it is a permission or a role setting, but being lazy, I wondered if anyone else had come across this. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Smith,

If you create and share an app that includes data from an on-premises source, the on-premises data gateway itself and certain types of connections to that gateway will be shared automatically. For any connection that isn’t shared automatically, you can share it manually or let the app prompt users to create their own connections. To test this issue, I create an app based on On-Premise SQL Server table and share it with my group member. I share both app and SQL Server connection with “Can edit” permission.

The first time shared user open the app, he was asked to allow the connection, then the second time he can open the app without entering credentials.

What’s the permission level you specify for shared user?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. We are sharing the app with Can Use which in turn is sharing the data connection with Can Use. Our users have the app on their iOS and Android devices. They are prompted to login to the PowerApps app and when they login can see the apps shared with them. However they get an "Unknown Error Occured:Server Response Null" on their devices. If they go to PowerApps.Com in a regular broswer session and login usinf their credentials, they can see the notifications where the app was shared with them, but get the same error when they try and launch the app from the notification. If they then go to Connections and edit the connection that was shared with them along with the app, they can enter their credentials. All apps then work as expected in the PowerApps app and in the broswer session. However, the next day,  they get the wrror again. If you log back into a broswer session of Powerapps.com and then enter their cerdentials in the connection again, then everything works as expected again. It's like their credentials hold for the PowerApps App for their access to the app and Sharepoint, but the Connection credentials do not hold. Very frsutrating.

Do I need to share both app and data source with "Can edit" permission? I don't want users to mess up the app, so I would prefer give them "Can use" access only, but that leads to an error.

Also, is there a type of connection that wouldn't require the users to create connection themselves / manually?
