Hi All,
I'm new to Power Apps but I am looking to create an app that will be able to do a variety of things.
The first thing I am struggling with is the vertical gallery, I have a list of locations that are taken from an excel doc and next to them in the gallery is arrows, I want to be able to click the arrow for that location and it will then go to a different screen with info on that location. For some reason each button seems to be linked with each other so if I change 1 they all change.
Any help?
There will be some other queries to as I am looking to create excel documents by submitting forms in PowerApps and then automatically saving this to a location on Sharepoint but I dont know if this is possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
@DylanB02 It's good to take each issue separately. Here we'll deal with your 1st issue.
Galleries have a Template. In the template you will put all the controls you want (say a Label and a button).
Then in the Items property of the Gallery you will give the datasource for this Gallery (It can be an Excel table, a SharePoint List, a Collection, a Table etc.,).
If you have 5 records in your Items, you will see 5 rows in your Gallery. But you can make each row and the controls within them function the way you want.
Please share your screen if you need more help!
Hi CNT,
Thanks for the quick reponse. So I have 3 columns in my excel table, Site name, number and site manager. This is all displayed, then at the end of each row on the gallery there is an arrow. But I want to click that arrow and whichever site it is for is which page it will take me to.
How do I customise each symbol on the vertical gallery to take me to a different page as I can only click on the first button to edit?
Thanks
@DylanB02 Can you please share your screen. I understand the structure of your Excel table but I'm not quite sure what you mean by "take me to a different gage" - Do you mean a different website, a different Screen in your App?
Hi CNT, sorry some info is confidential but least you can see the layout, so I want the icons circled in red to take me to a different page within using 'Navigate' which is fine, I know how to link them, but within the vertical gallery I can only select the top icon, I can't edit each individual one.
@DylanB02 As I mentioned to you earlier, galleries have a Template. In the Template you will see only 1 icon but in runtime you will see as many as records your datasource has and therefore that many icons. Now If you want to Navigate to a Screen when the user clicks the icon, you will write in the OnSelect of the icon, Navigate(ScreenName).
Now in your case you want to navigate to different screens for different records. so you should know for which record which screen you want to Navigate to and then you can do it in different ways,
One Method, If you have an ID in your datasource,
Switch(ThisItem.ID,1, Navigate(Screen1),2,Navigate(Screen2),......like this you can add as many as you want)
Thanks CNT, exactly what I was looking for, the part where you mentioned if you have an ID in your datasource? What exactly does that mean? Totally new to this so trying to learn as I go.
@DylanB02 That was just an example. You need some link between each record in the gallery and the Screen you want to go to. So the link could be an ID, Name or whatsoever.
In your case you have Site name, number and site manager as the information for each record. So you could say if Site Number is 1 go to Screen 1, If it is 2 go to Screen2 etc.,
Switch(ThisItem.Number,1, Navigate(Screen1),2,Navigate(Screen2),......like this you can add as many as you want)
Perfect, thanks for your help, I'll try it now and get back to you.
Thanks
Don't know if I am doing it wrong but that is showing errors.
