Would like to search by name but sort by a date column.

I am fairly new to PowerApps and I am unable to figure out how to search by one column and sort by the other.

The first column is the name.  Right now I sort and search by the name with this:

SortByColumns(Filter([@'Equipment Tracker'], StartsWith(Title, TextSearchBox1.Text)), "Title", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending))

For the date column, it is a calculated column from SharePoint and it is converted to a regular date with: Text(DateValue(ThisItem.'Escrow Deadline', "en"), "[$-en-US]mm-dd-yyyy")

What I would like to do is still search by name, but I want to sort the list of items by the date.  Every combination I have found either doesn't work and shows no items or errors out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Then how else can I have a column that shows 45 days out from another column?  This field is pretty important to what we are doing.  Is there a way to do this within Powerups that allows for the sort and searching to be different?

Use another date column in SharePoint and in Powerapps, make its value DateAdd(yourdatecolumn1,45) as its value.  Most calculations that you can do in SharePoint can be done using PowerApps functions.  You can avoid alot of complications in PowerApps simply by using SharePoint to store single line of text, numbers and dates.

Ok, I will give that a shot.  Then, how do I sort by that and still be able to search by the name?

Sorting and Searching do not interfere with each other.  PowerApps executes functions from the "inside out" so you "wrap" a function inside another one like this.  The creates a two step process:

SortbyColumns(
               Search(
                       dataset,Textinput1.Text,"Column1","Column2"
               ),"Column3", Descending
)

This formula tells Powerapps to search the dataset first looking for the text specified in the textbox within values in Column1 and Column2.  This creates a new (and smaller table).  It then Sorts the newly created table by some other column value or even one of the ones filtered by the search.  Typically, the result of the formula can be displayed in a gallery or datatable using the formula as its Items property.  The formula can also be used as the Items property of a dropdown or combobox control to further filter another dataset.

That worked.  Thanks for the awesome help.  If I may, one more question: how would I plug in "Column1" as a secondary sort?  So, I sort by Column3, then by Column1.

For secondary sorts, add the column and the direction of the sort like:

SortbyColumns(
               Search(
                       dataset,Textinput1.Text,"Column1","Column2"
               ),"Column3", Descending, "Column1", Ascending
)

The column names must be in double quotes.  Any number of columns will be sorted starting with the first one in the list.
