submit form that is split across multiple screens to sharepoint list

Hi all - i have an app built on a sharepoint list. I split the form across 4 screens. I inserted the form on screen 1 and then copied that and pasted it to each screen after... deleting the fields that were on other screens. On the final screen (#4) i have a submit button with the following formula for OnSelect

SubmitForm(Form1_1);SubmitForm(Form1_2);SubmitForm(Form1_3);SubmitForm(Form1_4);

The form is not submitting, and I get this error: "Network error when using Patch function: Field 'Do_x0020_you_x0020_have_x0020_SI' is required." I am not sure where the Patch function is in my app... I dont think it is anywhere. 

I want the user to be able to submit the form to create a new record, or edit their previously submitted record. It is already pulling in the record that exists on the sharepoint list, it just wont submit the changes if that makes sense.

@aking11 Unfortunately the approach you have taken will not work. You have 4 forms and you are trying to submit all of them, which in reality will add 4 records. If you want to split ONE form for convenience, you must have them ALL in one screen and then add some kind of Tab system when you display only the required datacards in each step and Submit this ONE Form.

On button, just submit the form1_1, and on form1_1's OnSuccess property submit form1_2, and on form1_2's OnSuccess property submit form 1_3 and so on.

I am still getting the same Patch error after changing to your suggestion... It is confusing me, because there is no patch function...

So, first thing... there is a "Patch" function happening, it's just happening in the background when you use the SubmitForm() functions. You can't access it. It's built into the code. Consider the SubmitForm() action to be Patch().

Second, the error you are receiving is most likely returning because the field 'Do_x0020_you_x0020_have_x0020_SI' is required by your SharePoint list, but you've not included it in some of your form controls, as you did not want that field to display. The field not being shown is all well and good, if it makes sense to not be shown for the "Step" the user is in the process. However, either the list must be updated to make the field not required, OR...

You need to use only 1 form in your app, with navigation buttons/tabs/etc (outside the form control) to walk the user through the steps of the entry process. Based on whichever manner you choose to set the steps for the process up, you would set the visible property for each of the data cards to equal the value of the current step...

As an example of setting up a Tab navigation, I would:

• Add a gallery (outside of the Form control), then set the items property = Sequence(4)
• Add a button or label to the gallery template, and set the Text property = Switch(ThisItem.Value, 1, "Screen 1", 2, "Screen 2", 3, "Screen 3", 4, "Complete & Submit")
• Add all data cards for the fields intended to be completed or viewed by the user to your one and only Form
  • For each data card set the Visible property = GalleryName.Selected.Value = valueOfStepToBeVisibleFor (meaning 1, 2, 3, or 4)
• Add a Blank Data Card
  • Set the Blank Data Card Visible property = GalleryName.Selected.Value = 4 && FormName.Mode < 2
    
    • The "&& FormName.Mode < 2" is so that the data card is hidden when the form is in FormMode.View (=2), and visible when in FormMode.Edit (=0) or FormMode.New(=1)
  • Add your button with the OnSelect property = SubmitForm(FormName)
