hi all

could you help please. i'm new to power apps so i'm not sure if im doing this correctly

first of all i am trying to put a general expense form together for my self to practice on. but i am running into trouble uploading

i have 2 drop down boxes that are using different tables to where i want the data to go when submitted which i think has caused me the problem.

i have the following on my submit button but i'm not sure where i need to specify where the data should go or if i even have to

SubmitForm(EditForm1);Navigate(Viewscreen, Screen Transition.None)

hope you understand 🙂

 Hi @andyw2

To resolve these error, you need to update the properties as:

Update -> Combobox1.Selected.ColumnName
Here, ColumnName needs to be replaced with the column that you want to save.

Height -> Replace the controlName corresponding to TextInput with the name of the combobox control. This is just to determine the placement coordinates of the control.

Hope this Helps!

SubmitForm() uses the data source associated with the EditForm you're passing into it. It also knows which item you're updating or if you're creating a new one using the EditForm() or NewForm() functions (respectively).

Hey @andyw2

First thing, the excel sheet should be formatted as a table and it should be present on an online platform like OneDrive etc. If you try to make changes to a static excel, the changes won't save directly.

How did you create this app? Is this done using "Start With Data"? If the file is on online platform, are you able to see _powerapps_id column? To test of the connection has been made properly, you must see this column in the excel.

SubmitForm() is used to save the details to the datasource. Navigate is moving the user to other screen when the data is saved.

Are you getting any errors? Please share more details about the datasource and the configuration so that we might be able to help you better.

Hope this Helps!

im going to create a new one as i was trying to start from a blank canvas so i could put in the drop downs in,

i think im trying to run before i can walk 🙂

sorry to waste your time

just a quick one how to i swap out a text box to add in a drop down box using a different table for the data or is that a different question altogether

sorry i created the app from the one drive so it has done everything for me this time.

i just would like to add drop downs in

thanks

Hey @andyw2

If the textbox is inside a datacard, you first need to Unlock it.
To Unlock: Select DataCard -> Right Menu -> Advances -> Unlock the properties.

Now, once it is unlocked, you can remove the text box and add a dropdown/combobox in place of it. You can use Filter to populate the records from a different table as:

Filter(TableName, Col1 = "Value1")

If you do not wish to apply any filter and show all the data, you can pass TableName in the Items property of the dropdown/combobox.

Hope this Helps!
