Embed Sharepoint List to Power Pages

Hi All,

I have been trying to embed SharePoint lists from sites that I am the owner of all day to SharePoint Pages.

Whenever I try, it says sharepoint.com refused to connect. I have seen lots of different answers online and have tried everything but nothing seems to work.

I have tried changing site settings xframe to allow, tried to use portal site connection on the SharePoint site but haven't had any luck yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @EitanKGCS

I didn't test it with Power Pages, but there is something called "Virtual Tables in Dataverse" where you can synchronize a SharePoint List with a Dataverse table. Using this Dataverse table, you can embed it as usual. I will try to test it out on the weekend, if you can get it to work, please let me know.

Here is how to set up virtual tables with SharePoint: Create virtual tables using virtual connectors (Microsoft Dataverse) - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs

If there are other ideas or solutions, I would also like to know!

Does this help you? Otherwise please give me some more information.

Best regards
Marvin

Hi @EitanKGCS

Try the following simple way.

1. Log in to https://make.powerapps.com/

2. Choose the right environment

3. Under Dataverse > Dataflows > New Dataflow

4. Give it a name. Ex: "SPtoDV"

5.  Choose online Service > Select "SharePoint online list"

ragavanrajan_0-1656245290787.png

6. Give the site URL > select organization as Authentication and create a new connection

Tip: You can schedule auto refresh at the periodic intervals to get the dataverse updated.

Once done: You can see the data loaded in to the DAtaverse table

In Power Pages > use the list component and utilise the imported table.

This method is so far easy way as far as I am aware and it is successful.

Hope it helps.

Hi @ragavanrajan

I am trying your solution but I am having an issue publishing the SP List. I keep getting the error "Name of 'CdmModel' cannot contain leading or trailing blank spaces or consist only of whitespace."

EitanKGCS_0-1656320968115.png

However, I have changed all column names to remove all whitespaces and trailing blank spaces multiple times. Not sure why this error keeps showing up. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi @EitanKGCS

Thanks for trying. It is not about changing the column names. Please follow the below ground rule

Pre:  When you create a SharePoint site make sure you don't have any spaces on the site. I have given sample URL below

1. Create a new list without spaces or any special character for testing. Ex: MyNewList

2. Full SharePoint URL will be:  https://elevatewiselab.sharepoint.com/sites/elevatewiselab/

3. When you hit Next the powerquery will show you the lists like below

ragavanrajan_0-1656321784757.png

4. Then you can pick your list and load it into CDM or Dataverse.

Have fun.

Hope it helps.

@ragavanrajan this works now!

Thanks so much. That's exactly what I needed!

@MarvinBangert Thanks. This is way better process I believe.
When I used "Dataflow" to leverage Sharepoint List for a Power Pages table, I found that there are more works to do.
Because the dataflow works like a batch process, there are a bunch of works to configure and I was totally frustrated.
Your approach looks even simpler and easier.
I could also succeeded in leveraging Sharepoint List as my table for Power Pages.

@ragavanrajan I'm trying to follow this, but I can only select 'Anonymous' as the authentication method, do you know why this is?

Many thanks.
