We started a trial portal to test some features for a project, which expired yesterday. Unfortunately, the experience of using the portal is quite bad. We had 3 pages with 1 sentence each and 1 image, but each page took at least 5 seconds to load. As the site was unpublished into production environment we do not know if this slow behaviour is due to this reason.
Do you know if unpublished websites are so slow and can we expect any kind of performance boost if we go to production? Or what the reason for the bad performance is?
The site is really simple in that it does not contain anything. We have set up Role access to the pages and have 3 users. All registrations, Azure credentials and login, 3rd party login etc. were disabled.
A portal caches the page output, so performance is typically not so bad.
The 'preview' button in the designer invalidates the server side cache so the initial load time when previewing pages be slower. Therefore, are you seeing this delay on subsequent visits to the pages, or only on the initial page load?
Adding my two cents.
PowerPages is hosted as an "Azure Web apps" in the Azure cloud. There is always a secondary web app running as a backup.
I have tested the performance using different tools. In terms of accessibility, I admit it is a bit slow. But keep in mind that power pages is not in GA. PowerApps Portals used to be the same and improved a lot once it was in GA.
The reason for slowness, may be due to you the web apps behind the scene were in the cold tier rather than hot. Also not sure of the latency, as we don't know which region it is actually hosted even though you select region at the first instance.
Hope it helps.

Hi @ragavanrajan,
Thank you for the answer. The thing is there are no apps. We are currently migrating to 365 and there isnt anything besides 2 or 3 test apps. And those apps are not on the portal. The portal only has 1 sentence and 2 images per page. It is literally empty. But it is slow even still.
I understand if there is a secondary app behind. Still, if it was loading a lot of graphics, a video, some kind of dynamics, then okay. Load a bit slower. But the portal is empty.
EDIT: What I have in Powerapps is only Power Portals. I do not have Pages. If this matters, might be the name that is not changed yet.
Hi @timl ,
The site is not published. We do 'Browse website'. All visits take a long time. If we stay on the site and click through the 3 pages, if we visit the site tomorrow without Browsing.
We have tried on Chrome (as main browser) and on firefox.
I think there is a misunderstanding here. Technically, PowerPages is hosted as a "WebApps" in Azure. We are not talking about any other apps in your environment.
Some ground rules to solve your problem
1. Make sure you don't have any adblockers or extensions installed in your browser
2. Check you are in a corporate environment, if so there might be a proxy needed to load faster.
3. Connect to a LAN cable and do a test.
If the above doesn't solve your problem. As I mentioned, your portal might be moved to Cold Tier in the Azure environment. To check from your side. Create one more trial portal and test the speed.
For me, it is loading within five seconds.

In Design studio
1. Pres sync configuration and preview the website. And press "Ctrl+F5"
Hope it helps.

Hi @ragavanrajan ,
Thank you for the propositions. I will keep this in mind to test after we move the portal to production, as access to it expired.
If you use a trial plan, it affects the performance as well.
Hi @NatGeo, during our transition we are using a combination of trials for some accounts.
