ActionConditionFailed when trying to attach 10 csv files from SharePoint folder to Send Email v2 action.

Dear Microsoft Power Automate Community,

My current flow has created 10 csv files after "Create file" actions, and I proceed to create "Initialize variable" action, follow with "Get files (properties only)", "For each", "Get file content", "Append to array variable" and "Send an email (V2)" actions. These steps are similar to Step 3 to Step 6 in Merge Excel and CSV Files with Power Automate — Encodian.

However, I noticed the email didn't attached the 10 .csv files (from SharePoint folder) into the email.

If you look on the flow result below, you can see "Get file content" and "Append to array variable" actions were skipped with ActionConditionFailed messages (see below).

Can you advise what went wrong on these 2 actions?

These are the settings I set in "Get file content" and "Append to array variable" actions:

Hi @jwhk,

First, initialize only one array variable to store attachments (just after trigger) then append to the variable using "Append to array variable" the following object:

{
"Name": "<name you set in created file action>,
"ContentBytes": <content you sent to created file action>
}

Finally assign this variable to "Send email" action.

Hi @jwhk

Did you checked whether value dynamic content which you are looping have any values inside it ?

Hi @Nived_Nambiar,

Thanks for your reply.

May I know how to check any values inside the value dynamic content?

I tried to check the output after the test, but it was not clickable.

jwhk_0-1709503642331.png

The expression I put for the value dynamic content is outputs('Get_files_(properties_only)')?['body/value']. Is this the correct expression to be used?

For troubleshooting purpose, I created another flow to test this issue, and still encountered the same ActionConditionFailed errors on "Get File Content" and "Append to Array Variable" actions.

jwhk_0-1709511796279.png

I also created another flow by using two "Compose" actions mentioned in How To Send Multiple Attachments via Email in Power Automate #Email #Attachments #PowerAutomate (you.... Again, I encountered ActionConditionFailed errors in "Get File Content" and "Compose" actions.

Hi @jwhk

The reason why the actions inside apply to each greyed out is because there is no content/data inside the value dynamic content.

For your first flow design - could you put a delay after creating the file using create file action before using get files action ?

For second flow- > is there any files inside the folder where the files should be present ?

Hi @jwhk,

I don't understand, in your first flow, the need of "Get files" to get files content as you create those files a few action upper sending their content to "Create file" action.

Either append your attachements array variable right after each "Create file" or do it in place of "Create file" and loop over attchement array to create files before sending your mail.

Hi @SamLed,

Thanks for your reply.

You meant my current issue can be resolved by using the following steps:

1) Put the "Initialize Variable" action in the beginning of each flow before running the "Run a Query against a Dataset", following by "Select", "Create CSV table", etc

2) Put the "Append to Array Variable" action right after each "Create File" action, and put the variable in the Attachment section of "Send Email v2" action (where it will contain 10 x variables in the Attachment section)

Hi @jwhk,

Behind the scene PA uses HTTP API calls, there may be a delay between the request and the result, so your file creation is not instantaneous and trying to get files just after creation request results in empty outputs because you're trying to get files that have not been created yet.

So, yes, beggining of flow is the place for any variable initializations, append it right after "Create file" the same way you did in your loop but using file content you have already and send to "Create file".

Hi @SamLed,

Actually, I have a complex PA flow, where 10 x "Create File" actions will create 10 x csv files and save in one SharePoint folder. There are 5 simple sub-flows to create the csv files with one single table, and the other 5 sub-flows will create the csv files with two tables at left and right by using the "Condition" action.

jwhk_0-1709691178381.png

I tried to follow your advice to create the "Append to Array Variable" action after each "Create File" action, but I found out I couldn't assign the value for "Name" and "ContentBytes" in "Append to Array Variable" action without "Get the (Properties Only) and "Get the File Content" actions in front of the flow.

I believe I didn't do it in the right way because I have tested it and the email still doesn't contain the 10 x csv files, although the SharePoint folder contained the csv files created/exist from the previous tests.

Also, I am wondering how to put 10 variables in the "Attachments" box in the "Send an Email (V2)" action.

Hi @SamLed and @Nived_Nambiar,

Much appreciated for your advise.

Finally I managed to make the flow works especially based on the last advise from @SamLed.
