Adding to a share point list from another to add on to total...

I have a metrics ( Daily ) share point list  for my team that calculates amount of lines received in daily. I am using a quick chart from a share point list to display that information. I have a "monthly" one that I want the information from the first list ( Daily one ) to move to the second list ( Monthly one) and just add to it rather than add a new entry. Just add to the amount in the monthly one. Both list are identical so that I can execute a flow that moves one to the other, but not sure how to add to the second ( Monthly) list.

I sounds like you are referencing the same column from the same list in both of your compose actions.  For the first compose action, you should get your value from the first Get Items action.  For the second compose action, you must reference the second Get items action.

This doesn't sound like it will be hard to implement, but I don't believe that I thoroughly understand your requirement.  Cam you provide a little more detail as well as some screen shots of your lists?

@luisv

Did you rename the Title column to Stations?

Can all items in the second list be deleted and refreshed with data from the first list?

Hey Scott,

Yes I renamed the title column to stations in order to give the users a clear definition of what is required upon entry of the list, also the quick charts are rather limited on what they display. I think one of the requirements in the quick chart on a share point site is "title" . I wanted that quick chart to display the name the of the stations.

 Yes everything on the second list can be wiped as long as the second list will reflect what the number of lines is totally. I.E if Monday 45 lines were received in at each station then when this information is transferred over to the second list it adds to what was already there ( 50 lines were currently there for each station )  It would refresh showing 95 for each station.

I believe that the Flow below will meet your needs.  The expression that I used in the Update items action can be seen in the action comments area.

Hey Scott,

 Very great flow. I am however running into an error when I run this flow. I have put the error and the flow as I have it now , with the columns and name of my list

@luisv

Flow is complaining about an expression in the Get Items2 action.  I suspect that there is an issue with the OData filter.

Can you do the following:

  • Post a screen shot of the OData filter
  • Verify that you are using the internal name of the column you mention in the first part of the filter.  Internal names can't have spaces.  To find the internal name, go to the list settings and click on the column.  The internal name will be at the end of the URL after field=
    • What is the internal name of the column

@luisv the output of a Compose control is always in text format so you need to wrap it in an int(rest of your expression)

As @RobElliott mentioned, Compose actions output text - sometimes Flow will automatically convert and other times it won't...

If you still have an issue, please post a screen shot of your compose action.

@RobElliott  and @ScottShearer Sorry I am not following. Please forgive my lack of knowledge. My expression reads:

add(outputs('LinesDest'),outputs('LinesSource'))

I need to wrap the whole expression as such?:

int(add(outputs('LinesDest'),outputs('LinesSource')))

@luisv

It should look like this:

add(int(outputs('LinesDest')),int(outputs('LinesSource')))

@ScottShearer and @RobElliott Thank you for all the help. I was unsuccessful. I think my limited knowledge on expressions has placed me at this road block. I tried to start to recreate the flow, with still no success.

Expression:

add(int(outputs('LinesDest')),int(outputs('LinesSource')))

Error I got again where:

Can you post screen shots of where you set the compose actions along with a wider screen shot of where they are in your Flow.  I suspect that there is an issue with one of them.  They should be be inside of apply to each loops - see my screen shot.

@ScottShearer  See below . I set them inside Apply to each , and Apply to each 2 :

In the second apply to each loop where you set the second compose action, please verify that you are referencing Amount of lines from the second get items action and not the first.  You'll see Amount of lines twice - make sure you have selected it from the entry under Get Items2.
