Get changes for an item or a file not working properly

Hi there,

I have a flow set up to assign a unique ID to a sharepoint item as well as send status updates when the item is updated. However I am having an issue where when an attachment is included in a new item the flow thinks it has been modified and instead of following the created path it follows the modified and therefore doesn't send the email. I have screenshots below if someone could please help thanks.

*NOTE*: I know this creates an infinite loop which I have eliminated by added the first condition which checks if the status has been updated stopping the loop.

Could you please tell me:

Do you want to determine whether the flow is triggered by a newly created item or when the item has been modified based on whether the Modified and Created times are the same? 

When a new project contains multiple attachments it can cause the Modified and Created times to be different and cause your flow to not send emails correctly. 

I suggest that you split a flow into two flows, the trigger for the first flow uses When an item is created and the trigger for the second flow uses When an item or a file is modified. 

Splitting the two merged operations into two separate operations avoids unexpected problems.

The flow acts as a way to detect creations and modifications as well as updating items on the list. 

Due to current limitations we can only have one flow per form. I will explain each process:

When an item is created the flow needs to assign a unique ID number done through initialising a variable, the flow also grabs attachments when an item is created by " get attachments ", then initialising am array variable, followed by get properties then attaching the variable to the email. The final step of the created flow is updating the Unique ID column with update item.

To stop the infinite loop the first condition is to check if the unique ID column has been updated, and if it has (by adding in the unique ID) the flow has no next step.

For modifying it only needs to recognise status changes which is a reason for the third condition. This then sends an email and stops the flow.

I was just wondering if there is any work around for the attachment issue and as the moment everything else is working fine. Thanks
