How can I split an array in power automate to input multiple items into a SharePoint list?

I have a form that when submitted has the values used to make a new list item. My question is how can I get the input to come out as separate objects and not as one array? In the picture bellow the top example is from the automatic input and the bottom is the manual input.

Hey @Erik2077

You can try the following technique:

I have added your data in a compose. In your case add the dynamic expression.

After that I have used a select action. In that I am passing the output of above compose.

Then in Mapping I have given a key called Item.

And in Value I have given the following expression:

item()

After this use action apply to each and pass the body or the output of above select action.

And inside it add the create item action. One by one add all the dynamic fields you are getting from response details action. For the part where you have to add the Data Center, IT and system values.

Write the following expression:

items('Apply_to_each').Item

This will create separate entry in the SP List. Like Below:

Instead of the compose in the apply to each add your create item action.

If this was the solution you were looking for you can mark it as a solution. And if you liked the explanation, you can thumbs up/kudo the post. It really helps.

If you have any doubt just reply.

Thanks. 🙂

@Erik2077

If what is being returned is an array, Power Automate should automatically put you into a loop when you reference the array - no additional work should be required.

Where is you data coming from? Forms?  If so, can you post a screen shot of the question in Forms?

If I have answered your question, please mark your post as Solved.
If you like my response, please give it a Thumbs Up.

Hi @Erik2077

Could you please tell me:

Do you want to update the multiple choices column of SharePoint with the multiple choice questions in the Form?
You can place the answers returned by the Form in an array variable to update SharePoint.
Form returns the answer to a multiple-choice question as an array-style string (eg ["A","B"]).
You can use the replace function to replace double quotes and [ ] in the answer with an empty string.
Use the split function to separate a string into an array with commas as the delimiter.
Iterate over the array to append variables:

So, the power automate starts when a form is submitted and then makes a new item on a SharePoint list. For this section when more than one option is selected it takes the items and fill the list out like [item1, item2, item3, ect...]. What I would like to get is to have it put them in as a separate items. I am a little new to power automate so I am not sure how you set up recursion, but I assume something like a for loop would fix it.

I will try this out if I don't get to bogged down and get back to you.
