How to create conditional steps in adding excel in SP into SP list

Hey All - i need an assistance in how I can transfer the excel that currently created in the SP via PowerBI Paginated Reports into SP list. I'd like to create a condition where if there's an existing row of data created it will trigger 'update' if not it will trigger 'create item'.

I am unable to progress due to the condition below is not correct :

Hope to get any suggestion on how to make the condition above working, thank you in advance.

Hi @jhauw

Do you want to update excel data if the data is already in the SharePoint list, create new item if the excel data is not in the SharePoint list?

If so, you need a unique identifier column firstly, which helps to identify every item/record.

Then using the empty function to check if the item is present in the list or not.

A simple demo could be found in the following link:

Solved: Flow Update/Create Error - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

Hope it helps.

Best regards,

Sylvia

Any idea how to fix this? TIA

Hi @jhauw

Please kindly check the correct internal column name of Telstra User Id in your SharePoint list.

Here is the method:
1. Clicking on the Settings > List settings:

vpeijunzmsft_0-1684310641912.png

2. Choosing and clicking on the column, the correct internal column name that should be used in flows will show in the last part of URL:

vpeijunzmsft_1-1684310771169.png

For example, I have a column named "start date", after checking the internal column name, I need to put:

startdate eq 'xxx'

in filter query.

Best regards,

Sylvia

Hi Sylvia - thank you that fix the filtering issue & the run sucessfully - however it the value from excel didn't get through to the SP List 🤔

It goes on updating this step but seems didn't generate the value into the SP List :

Any idea as to why ? I have the admin of the SP so there should be any issue from that point.

Hi @jhauw

If you want to create item in SharePoint list, it means the item isn't in your list in the past, you have to fill all the data from excel to SP list (you have chosen the dynamic content of Title in SP list).

Also, since the Telstra User Id is the unique identified id, please make sure to that column has the data.

Best regards,

Sylvia

Hi Sylvia - thanks - I can confirm the the Telstra User Id column has data (is mandatory) - however i still  don't understand what you mean by this "If you want to create item in SharePoint list, it means the item isn't in your list in the past, you have to fill all the data from excel to SP list (you have chosen the dynamic content of Title in SP list)."

This is brand new SP list and it never has any same data previously. Do you mind to elaborate on that?

Hi @jhauw

Could you please show a screenshot of the whole flow if possible?

It would be also great if you could share the result you get, which will help to check your issue.

Best regards,

Sylvia
