I have configured email sending option in my flow. Ideally it is expected to send an email when there is an update in a specific record. But now, emails are being received for every minute.

Below is the flow description - 

1. when an item is created or modified (in destination)

-> output is seen to be a single record with unique ID

2. get all the items (from source)

-> output is seen to be list of all items from the source share point 

3. filter array

-> input: filtering the data in source by comparing the supplier code in step1 (destination) and supplier code in step2 (source)

-> output: filtered single record from source 

4. condition - if true,

-> update the item in destination with email address found in source for that supplier code

-> send an email to the above found email address

 

-> output of "If Yes" in the condition is a single record.

-> output of "Update Item in share point" is - single record is updated

-> output of send email is - single json response

5. terminate

 

In this entire process I see in the output that a single record is being updated and single json response of email is seen. But I have been getting emails for every minute even though no record in destination is added or updated. Also, emails are being sent for the existing records for which email address is configured even though no change happened. 

 

Can anyone figure out where is the leakage?

@Anonymous Because your are using trigger: when an item is created or modified  & then update action. Update action is modifying your SP list and flow is detecting this and triggering it infinitely

 

You need to create one multiline text column (Name:StopRun) with append changes to  existing text feature.

In trigger condition: use this- @equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/StopRun'], null)

and in Update action- add NoRun in StopRun column.

Later hide StopRun column from SP List.

Hi @Hardesh15 , I now getting emails not as frequently as it was before (for every minute). But for every 30 mins. Even though there was no update done on the records. How do I go ahead and fix this issue?

But the issue occurred yesterday where I was received emails for every 30 mins. But today, email sending functionality seem to be working as expected.

Could you please let me know if there is a bug in the flow which might occur sometime in future?

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
