Power Automate Creating Duplicate Posts

I have a power automate built that is working, BUT it is producing as many posts as there are contracts on the excel sheet that expire that date and I only want it to produce one post. Example - if there are 4 contracts that expire that day, then it does 4 posts. If there are 2 contracts that expire that day, then it does 2 posts. All with the same table. Do you know how to make it so only one message post?

Please see images in the attachment.

@ncotela23 ,

You are running a loop, checking the Date for each post separately.

It sends a post for each item in the row.

What you need to do is add a filter after your List rows to filter the ones that need (based on Agreement Date)

Then send a single post to Teams.

That would be great! Thanks.

@SudeepGhatakNZ Do you mean add a filter in the List Rows step as I have already or another step right after the list rows?

@ncotela23 ,

This is how I would tackle it.

So I added that, but now it creates even more posts than previous. I am also wondering why I need to add the filter array step, when I already had a filter in the List Rows Step - see image below and the equation I used.

formatDateTime(addDays(utcNow(),1), 'yyyy-MM-dd')

You don't need the filter if you have applied oDATA filter in Get Items

Why do you have the Loop? Is that need?

@SudeepGhatakNZ can you provide me a screenshot of what you are wanting me to do? I am not understanding where the loop is. I removed the filter from the OData filter and now it generates multiple posts AND it pulls all expiration dates in.

I would like know the purpose of the "Apply to each" construct.

Are you looking to send an email to a specific user for each row individually, or do you prefer sending a single email to one person containing all the records?

Hi @SudeepGhatakNZ ! That is actually a great point. I did not add the apply to each. I added the condition to post a message only when the expiration date matches the expression, but to not post if it does not have data that matches the expression. When I added the Condition, Power Automate Automatically added the Apply to Each function. Any idea how to get rid of that?

Could you provide a screenshot of the contents within the "Apply to each" construct?

@ncotela23 ,

I don't think you need the condition is required because you have already filtered your rows (unless you are filtering on another column). Try this, create a table of all the records using Select (to select columns) and then Create HTML Table to print them in tabular format. Provide the output of the table to Email action.

@SudeepGhatakNZ I guess I am confused because I never had get items step in my flow. Please see how my flow has been.

I changed it to this. Is this what you were saying to do?

Yes I think that is correct!

This should post a single HTML table with records that match your filter criteria.

Hrmm - - - it is only sending one post, but it is posting everyday even if there is not a contract expiring within the timeframe. In addition, when I did my test and had marked a few contracts to expire on the time frame as indicated by the formula filter -

formatDateTime(addDays(utcNow(),1), 'yyyy-MM-dd') - , it did not include them in the post.

You can see in the image below. The one with the arrow is where I had contracts set to expire on 7.8.2023, but it did not include any information in the table generated. The other posts are only one, but there were no contracts set to expire the following day and it still generated a post which is why I wanted the condition of if there is a contract to expire based on the formula, make a single post with the information in the table and if not, do not make a post at all.

You should just focus on the output of the List rows action and get the filter working.

If you are struggling to get the correct expression for the oData filter, try using the Filter action

Hi @SudeepGhatakNZ I updated the filter array and it did work. I am going to check in tomorrow morning to confirm it does not generate a post when there is no contract expiring as stated with the set filter.
