Reminder email

hi Everyone, 

I am a relatively new user and not a great deal of experience, however thought I would be able to build a basic reminder flow to shoot an email off when a date in my SharePoint list equals today. As i have discovered, it is not as easy as I thought and cannot get it to work. I explain the workings below:

First pic is my SharePoint list  which is filled from my Power APP., looks like this:

the column i am wanting to reference in the flow is "Trigger date" as it is the product of the following calculation:

based on how many trigger days before a client may want will give different calculated results, but it is the Trigger Date column i want for the reference point in the flow.

I have omitted the email step at this stage as I cannot get a result of TRUE from the condition. I have tried multiple expressions for utcNOW(), including formatDateTime(utcNOW(),'dd-MM-yyyy') nothing I try works and I always get FALSE, which I assume means the condition is not equal to the "Trigger Date".

I am thinking but unsure the problem is the value or output of the get items is not matching what I am trying to compare to.

Any help would be good as I am not an experienced user.

Did you run a test? In the test you can see the values of all the variables. Really, befriend the test button, because that's the only place you're going to get hints where things are going wrong.

I suspect one of your dates is displayed in sharepoint as dd-MM-YYYY, but the data might be a complete timestamp with seconds included.

If I were to take a wild guess, you'll have to use "formatDateTime(TriggerDate,'dd-MM-yyyy')" to make sure both formats are the same. I'm not sure what triggerdate returns, but it might even be a timestamp.

I have tested it 10000 times and the inputs and outputs are  in the format as per the compose step, i.e., dd-MM-yyyy,

Trigger date column appears as dd/MM/yyy in the shareppoint list but I thought the compose step would sort that?? as it does above, I'm now not sure what the condition should be, i.e. should it be 

"TriggerDate" is equal to ütcNOW()"or perhaps something different, like formatDateTime(utcNOW(),'dd-MM-yyyy)

Can you check the raw inputs in the conditions after running a test?

Also, make sure you check the correct record. I see you have 17 items in your list when you made the post. So navigate to the record you expect to be true and then check the raw values.

Hi again, 

Hi have checked the RAW output and the value is "2022-03-02T08:00:00Z",

The RAW input is formatted exactly the same "2022-03-02T08:00:00Z", 

The column i am checking is the Trigger Dater column containing these values, I am asking in the condition to check ïs equal to" formatDateTime(utcNOW),'yyyy-MM-ddhhmmss')

I thought this would be true for dates from the Trigger Date column equalling "today".

i just am at a loss as to why it isn't working.

For the below condition

For the left side, use formatDateTime expression as well. And format utcNow to ensure that comparison is done through the same formats.

formatDateTime("YOUR SHAREPOINT ITEM",'yyyy-MM-dd')

is equal to

utcNow('yyyy-MM-dd')

Okay, they look the same to humans, that's good. But one might be a date, the other one a string. Have you made sure they are of the same type?

Maybe just convert them both to a string with Text().
