Rerun failed processes (Resubmit Flow and Run After)

Hello,

I'm just getting started with Power Automate but I'm running into a few issues, please bare with me.

Background:

I have a flow that gets a list of parameters needed for a power Bi paginated report.

It then cycles through each parameter pair into the report, exports to .XLSX, and saves the files.

Issue:

I'm tryin to run ~200 of these, and there is about 10% failure rate when generating the paginated report times out.

This whole process takes ~8 hours.

I want to retry those 10% automatically so I don't have to find them and then rerun them manually or create another list/ flow and run that.

What I've tried:

I have a 'Resubmit Flow' with 'run after' configured to just the failed and timed out reports.

     The issue is that all 200 will try to run a second time if any 1 report fails.

Question:

How can I set up the resubmit Flow so that it only runs for failed and timed out reports??

Is there a better option for this besides the resubmit flow?

Hi @DerekSmith ,

You can use Scopes to implement a try/catch pattern where one scope is configured on run after error from the first scope which will have your action for report generation and a chance of timing out.  This way you can re-run it in the same flow automatically.

Alternatively, can you add a column into your Excel (or use a SharePoint list) to act as a flag.   When your report generation is successful, you can update the row and the flag.  The retry run should look for items where the flag is false.

Update:

I tried the scopes with a try/ catch. the problem is at the end of a scope you get a succeed/fail on the entire scope and it doesn't capture the individual fails in the apply to each loop and I haven't figured out how to capture those in an array yet.

What I did find that has worked pretty well so far is in the settings of the paginated report action to use the retry policy, set it to fixed and 1 minute delay with 3 retries.

I'm having the same issue. No matter what I put the degree of parallelism to I keep getting this error message. I want to be able to simply rerun the failed runs until all are completed. Using a SharePoint list may be an option any resources on how to do this would be awesome.
