Select won't move underneath the next action

I've a Select in a Apply To Each.

I need to add an action before it, I can't add the new action before the Select so I'm creating it underneath and then going to move the Select.

When I try this I get the error "The action cannot be dragged into foreach as action outside foreach depends on it"

All I'm doing is moving the Select to a different place in the same Apply To Each - why am I getting this error?

@lee-martin  can you share screenshot of your flow where you are facing this issue. Usually this error occurs when action you are moving, its output is used in some other action, and that dependent action needs to be after select action.

@annajhaveri

There is only the Select in the Apply To Each, I'm not moving it outside the Apply To Each, just adding something new, and then trying to move the Select after it.

@lee-martin  could you please share screenshot of apply to each from your flow with the actions expanded inside the apply to each?

Anna Jhaveri

@annajhaveri  I could, but it's on a different laptop will try and get a copy.

It's exactly as I describe however...

@annajhaveri  Finally been able to get this

As you can see, there is a select in an apply to each. I wish to add a set variable above this. I cannot do this, so I add it underneath and then try to move the Select underneath, and I get the error I described.

And this is the error when I try to move it below a set variable I added

@lee-martin  It should work the way you described, are you using output of select action in the Set Variable?

Anna Jhaveri

@annajhaveri

No, there is no dynamic content yet in there. The idea is for the variable to come before as one of the values in the Select needs to change where it comes from (there are several email fields, and we need to specify which specific ones to use).

The action is convinced that I'm trying to move it into the for/each when I just try and move it within the same for/each

@lee-martin  Trying adding Compose action below Set Variable, and then try moving Select action above Compose action, just to give a try if that works?

Anna Jhaveri

@annajhaveri Still not working

Are you sure that you drop it inside the loop and not outside of it? Why is it even necessary to do a select statement inside of a loop?

And if everything fails you can always add an action after the action you just created and than remove the duplicate on top.

@Matthy79 I'm 100% sure I'm moving it inside.

I've no idea why it's in the loop, it's a very complicated flow which predates my arrival so I'm not touching anything I don't have to

Normally it is in a loop when you are selecting content from an array.

What happens when you add the "set variable" under the select and than add a new select statement under "set variable" and put the same content in. Is this working? You can also copy/paste the first select action (I normally try to avoid it because it sometimes destroys things).

@Matthy79  I'm trying to avoid that too, as it's right in the middle of a long flow, and I don't know what it will affect if I change too much.

The flow is live and run once a week (and cannot be run from a test or dev system), so I've limited opportunity to fix it

Yes, I understand that but you are asking for help and you already got a solution but if you don't want to do it than we can't help you.

@Matthy79 the solution I need is how to move an action below another action within the same Apply to Each

I can do this in any other location, but not in this flow where I need to - and there appears to be no reason for it.
